Here are my thoughts: The Cornhuskers are on the right track with the west coast offense. This will attract recruits who will want to goto the next level. As far as I can tell, the ingredients are there. The defense on the other hand is in dire straits. If Bo Pelini can strentghen the defense and simplify the west coast offense, then they will rise up again.

If you doubt my wisdom, just look at the offensive scores, even on their losses.

Taking as much emotion out of this as I can..I think Callahan is probably as good of an offense guy as there is...he’s just not head coach material....he lost the Raiders after the superbowl and he lost this team after USC. I’m not a very knowledgeable X’s and O’s guy but know enough that he needed to go as head coach...

Why should any college athletic club care about recruits that want to go to the next level?

I’m assuming that by “the next level” you mean pro.

I wholeheartedly believe that it is not about offense, defense or special teams. It is about character. The foundation of the Nebraska program under Osborne was built on character. That is the spirit that the Nebraska program needs to recapture. I believe Nebraska had something different, something more special than any other program in the country. Osborne not only preached character, but he lived it and the players eventually learned from it.
