Huckabee, the False Conservative

WASHINGTON -- Who would respond to criticism from the Club for Growth by calling the conservative, free-market campaign organization the "Club for Greed"? That sounds like Howard Dean, Dennis Kucinich or John Edwards, all Democrats preaching the class struggle. In fact, the rejoinder comes from Mike Huckabee, who has broken out of the pack of second-tier Republican presidential candidates to become a serious contender -- definitely in Iowa and perhaps nationally.

Huckabee is campaigning as a conservative, but serious Republicans know that he is a high-tax, protectionist, big-government advocate of a strong hand in the Oval Office directing the lives of Americans. Until now, they did not bother to expose the former governor of Arkansas as a false conservative because he seemed an underfunded, unknown nuisance candidate. Now that he has pulled even with Mitt Romney for the Iowa caucuses with the possibility of more progress, the beleaguered Republican Party has a frightening problem on its hands.

The media is exploiting Huckabee. Huckabee has no real support. They’re using Huckster to get Fred and Romney out of the race so they’ll have their Rudy/Huckabee dream authoritarian ticket.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the GOP frontrunners drop out of the race, leaving Duncan Hunter, a real conservative holding the flag.

His support is all media driven. What do you think is going to happen if he somehow wins the nomination? The same media is going to expose his record. He's already on record being buddy-buddy with the Clintons. You think conservatives are going to stomach another 4-8 years of another feckless administration getting denigrated by the media and Democrats?

Tell your candidate to quit being a tool and get out of the race.

A video of Huckabee’s State of the State Address to the Arkansas Legislature from 2005 has surfaced where he is seen propsing giving college scholarships to illegal aliens: http://arkjournal.com/2007/11/following-is-from-one-of-my-favorite.html

Huckabee’s record keeps coming back to haunt him!!!

This fact was brought home to me recently when GOP presidential wannabe Mike Huckabee suggested that as president he would, for the good of the people, support a federal anti-smoking law.

The choice for most Christian conservative is either Fred Thompson or Huckabee. None of the other leading candidates can be trusted to appoint conservative prolife judges. If Fred continues falling in the polls, many Christians will rally behind Huckabee.

I don’t think that the media will be able control themselfs for long before they start bashing Huck so we will find out if he can stand up to the onslaught.

If Roe v Wade is overturned, I think that it will lead to the biggest Republican v Democrat fight since the civil war and we will win.

I think you have just captured the feelings of a large majority of us. Please, somebody, anybody, tell me why, in the twenty-first century, we are still dealing with this reality of making our choice from a MSM selected slate? There were ten “official” candidates- FDT sort of pushed by the electorate, the rest all selected by the media. Does anybody else see a problem here? Shouldn’t WE have more of a say in this process? I think that there is great dis-satisfaction with the slate. I don’t know what to suggest.
