Reminds me of right after the Shaw was deposed and Khomeini banned all music.
Khomeini didn't want anyone singing in his reign.

Where’s Rev Al Sharpton when you need him? They are being racist and our man Al should step up and make them apologize like Imus, Michael Richards, etc. etc. /sarc

Can’t say that was a bad decision.

Iran has officially categorised rap music as "illegal."Wish they'd do the same here.

Sounds like a mission for the State Department. Start up a Radio Free Iran (if it does not already exist) and broadcast this culturally disruptive music to the Iranian youth.
An added benefit would be to have pro-democracy lyrics.

No doubt they prefer the loud booming noise coming from automobiles to be exploding car bombs.

Hard though it is for me to say this, Iran's insane government just may have a point.
Of course, I suppose that Wagner and Rossini are next (the women aren't wearing tents, talk-and sing!-in the presence of men to whom they are not related, etc), but I'll enjoy this while I can.

Moderator, please correct the headline. “Rap music” is an oxymoron.

Okay, I’m with ‘em on this one.
I s’pose we could lighten it to ‘ban rap “music” in all public venues.’ If you want to listen to it in the privacy of your own home - with headphones - that should be okay.
