BLUFFTON -- Sun City Hilton Head residents got face time with Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani on Friday morning, and while his talking points focused primarily on the economy, Sun City attendees seemed most interested in his immigration policy. Illegal immigration, Giuliani said, needs to be stopped "right at the border."
He supports building a fence along America's 2,000-mile border with Mexico and said he would use technology -- cameras as well as heat and motion detection equipment -- to "change behavior" and encourage people to come into the country legally instead.
"Legal immigration is good for us," he said.
Giuliani said he would not support a constitutional amendment to prevent children of illegal immigrants from becoming citizens, although he would require applicants for citizenship to take a test proving they can speak, read and write in English.

DoughtyOne: Stop Giuliani at border (the New Yack border)
What a pimp...
More “Virtual Fence” Boondoogle talk. It won’t stop even a jackrabbit.
I like to pick my candidates the same way I pick racehorses - on past performances. What happened to the mayor who welcomed any illegal who was willing to work in NYC? I hope the good people of SC won't fall for what he's saying now that he wants their vote as opposed to the record of what he's done.
You are full of crap on the illegal issue Rudy you RINO.
How’s that abortion backing going for you there RINO?
The Border fence is always mentioned. What are they going to do about the illegals already here?
John and Rudy will put them on the “path to citizenship”....
I forgot Huck will do it too.
Giuliani: Stop illegal immigration at border, [so I don’t have to think about what to do with the 20 million here!!!!]
Just think how much money Rooty could have saved NYC if he had used a “Virtual” security detail?
He could have used a robot with a camera to take a picture of his carcase and possibly the perp after the crime.
Isn’t that the truth. Still, if he were elected president, do you think he would build a wall? Nope.
While they are at it, make people decide which country they are going to hold their allegiance to. No more dual citizenship.
“Isnt that the truth. Still, if he were elected president, do you think he would build a wall? Nope.”
Not only that, if Kerick weren’t going to jail, Rudy would make him head of homeland security or worse.
Actions speak louder than words. I don’t trust the man, just like McCain and Huckabee. They’re all pro-amnesty.
Note that he wants a fence rather than a wall. The reason?
A fence has holes through which can be thread umbilical cords.
Can’t argue with that either.
“I like to pick my candidates the same way I pick racehorses - on past performances”
We have a winner!!
A combination of a physical and virtual fence could be an effective barrier. It depends on deployment and committment to border security. However, even a complete 1,500 mile physical barrier is just a partial solution. The enforcement first and attrition through enforcement provide the complete set of tools.
Birthright citizenship is a ridiculous idea that most people reject. The whole idea needs testing again before the Supreme court. Giuliani, Huckster, McCain, and possibly Romney are soft on immigration. Immigration is a huge opportunity to drive a wedge between the left. Giuliani, Huckster, and McCain will have a similar policy as Bush on immigration. If any of them are nominated, the rats will win in a landslide.
They can build the fence. ;^)
