Don’t have any stats handy, but I do know that “hot” burglaries are very common in Britain, with its highly restrictive gun laws, and quite rare in the USA.

What’s your problem? Don’t you know that burglars specifically look for homes with people in them that are armed. Why sure they do.
Fails the common sense test. Don’t need a study.

The gun carnage in America may soon overtake the maelstrom in Iraq. Every day, pop, pop, pop, and another victim is condemned to the nightmarish plague of handguns gone wild: Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor, 24, is shot to death in a home invasion. Amadou Cisse, 28, a Senegalese chemistry doctoral student at the University of Chicago, is gunned down near Hyde Park. On the Southwest Side, Howard Long, a 22-year-old security guard at Get M Girlz Apparel, is popped for a change of outfit.

Hmmmm.... Let's take a look at these examples... Taylor, a convicted felon, was not allowed to own a gun. The two others, living in Chicago, which it seems is pretty much a "handgun free zone" ensured that all three were victims. It seems to me that there are 2 problems here, which the writer ignores: 1) Contrary to the subject of the article, the problem is that there aren't enough guns "on the streets." and 2) The wrong people have them!

To paraphrase Ann Coulter, the problem with gun free zones is that the murderers don't seem to be able to read the signs designating those zones.

What they will do to pander to the next group when elected is what bothers me.

But what of the “pop, pop, pop” when a gun is used in defense? The police are never there when you might need a gun most. For women in particular, guns are an equalizer (note author’s gender). Then there’s the issue of a well armed citizenry being a bit more resistant to tyranny. Somehow, that seems important too.

Nice pic of Fred BTW. :-)

Fred Thompson ‘08!

Every time I read one of these insipid columns from a left wing drive-by excoriating gun ownership I can’t help but wonder if there isn’t some criminal thug out there reading it as well and saying to himself, “Well, I’ve got to put Laura Washington on my list of future victims. We know she’s defenseless. She as much as said she is.”

Pretty stupid, Laura.

90% of America has guns.

At one time, but no longer I read recently that it is less than 50% these days.

Only six? Only 500 rounds? Time to go shopping!!!

That reminds me, I need to get to work on my press and make some more ammo.

It’s not the nasty, unfeeling, greedy people who commit the murders, it’s the gun. Take away the gun and you’d still have the nasty, unfeeling, greedy people, something the author of this article won’t face for political reasons.

“Every day, pop, pop, pop, and another victim is condemned to the nightmarish plague of handguns gone wild”

When my handguns go wild I give them a harsh talking to and a time out. If they continue to misbehave I show them the belt and they settle down.

“reportedly found six guns and 500 rounds of ammunition”
I think the author would p** in his pants if he knew how much ammunition I have wandering around my place. 500 rounds is enough for a good day at the range.

This article reminds me, I really should get something I should carry. So I don’t become one of those “good people”.

I don’t think little chuckie drew that without help from a gun hating adult. The “good dead people” would be alive if they had a gun to protect themselves.

Stock up now on components. Prices are going up in Feb...again.

Commercial ammo prices are also going to go up, by 20% in some cases.

Laura Washington is just a press ho. If you consider lying and trying to deceive people as an immoral act, and if you consider people who commit immoral acts for money as "ho's" then Laura Washington fits the bill perfectly. She obviously does not want to admit that black criminals bear any responsibility for their actions, but want to blame something other than the current black hip hop neer-do-well thug culture, then blame the inanimate object.

Never mind that it's a lie. The poor misunderstood "youts" that killed Sean Taylor did it because the gun made them do it. I can just hear the gun whispering to those poor innocent young men, "go break into the football star's house. He's got's stuff you deserve. It's yo stuff and he's keepin' it from you." Everone know guns say things like that all the time.

“handguns gone wild”

I stopped letting mine go on spring break. They ended up in a lot of gun porn.

Among the viable candidates, Fred Thompson is the strongest supporter of the Second Amendment.
