White House Hopefuls Name Worst Jobs
Breitbart ^ | 12/05/2007

Posted on 12/05/2007 11:55:03 AM PST by Responsibility2nd

The Associated Press asked major presidential candidates a series of questions about their personal tastes, traits and backgrounds. Today's question—first in a series—and their answers: What was your worst job?

DEMOCRATS:

New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton: "Sliming fish in a fish cannery in Valdez, Alaska."

Former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards: Textile mill. "I cleaned out overhead in the weave room, which is where all the crap goes. And I'd be up there climbing around, knocking the stuff down. And it would go down on the looms. The weavers would be, uh, not happy with me for that."

Illinois Sen. Barack Obama: Scooping ice cream at a Baskin-Robbins and eating too much of it.

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson: Landscaping, while playing baseball on Cape Cod in 1967. "The pay was terrible. I remember it was backbreaking work."

REPUBLICANS:

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee: "Washing windows at JCPenney's and stocking shelves when I was 14 years old. ... It was a great job and it was a great company but they worked me hard. Just as I'd get all the fingerprints wiped off the door, somebody would come and they'd put their hands all over the glass. To this day, I'm still very sensitive about never touching the glass, but touching the handles because I had to wipe those windows so many times."

Arizona Sen. John McCain: "I've never really had a bad job."

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney: "Worst job was probably spending about a week sawing a sewer pipe at the ranch in Idaho I worked at. And getting down in the sewer and sawing through a sewer pipe that still had active sewage occasionally passing through it."

Former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson: "I've worked in a factory, I was a bouncer at my uncle's drag strip, I worked at the post office, I sold children's shoes, I sold ladies', I sold men's clothing, I was a night clerk at a motel. I can't think of a job that I had that I wasn't thankful for at the time."

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani: Declined to answer.

True, that was one of the most awful cars ever made.
The Gremlin had something interesting about it. The Pacer was just plain ugly and gutless.

Is Hillary’s answer possibly a total lie?

Does anyone remember her spending any time in Alaska?

Worked as a mechanic in a trash burning steam plant.

Had to jump into the incinerators ( stop feeding it and let it cool to 350 degrees. don a leather suit and respirator) to weld repair water leaks and replace the refractory insulation in the transfer plenum. Nasty work with ash in every body orifice

I wonder if Shrillary actually did work at that cannery, or if she just pulled it out of her Clymer?

BTW, I think I've found the ideal man for you:

"New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton: "Sliming fish in a fish cannery in Valdez, Alaska."

Oh, Pleeeeze. What an insufferable liar she is. The question was about former jobs, not photo-ops. The woman has never had an actual job in her entire life. Someone should have had the guts to ask her to identify on the spot: the name of the company, how many hours she worked, how and when she was paid and how many people worked there when she was, uh, employed. Also, how did she travel to Valdez... what route, what means. Betcha anything she could not come up with a truthful answer to any of those questions.

Maybe not a lie. Maybe it's the only real job she ever held.

... though I doubt it ... doubt that she ever even held that job ... smells fishy to me ...

They pay for hauling hay? I think my uncle owes me big time.

I worked at a camp once that had its toilets back up during a big “event” weekend. We had to haul out the contents of the 10 stall barracks style toilets. One each for men and women.

I learned a couple of things that weekend: The first was that I was going to stay in school and NEVER do that again. The second was that women are much more disgusting than men in terms of hygeine. The last was to chew your food well.

Then, a close second was picking tobbacco. Only white kid amongst a group of 30 migrant workers from Alabama. I learned a lot that summer.

Maybe Fred sold the ladies’ clothes to Rudy. What a marvelous coincidence that would have been.

My worst job was handling baggage at the Greyhound Bus Depot in San Francisco. I quit after three days.

Painting the roof rafters over the steamers that dried paper in a paper mill.

While I was up there, another guy was replacing the 160 F sprinkler heads with 175 F heads, as the 160's kept going off in the heat. Had to wear insulated gloves so I wouldn't burn my hands on the aluminum ladder.

It was a tad warm up there. And I supposed if I had fallen (fainted or some such) my mangled cooked corpse would have messed up a paper run over the big drying rollers and they would have docked my pay for that. My dad could have used that money, to help pay for my burial.

I’m a plumber, Mitt’s worst ( job or chore? ) was making a single (he or someone else would have made a second) cut of a cast iron pipe at his own ranch in Idaho?

He is a man among men.

Working on a hay crew, we got 3-5 cents a bale. 5 cents for alfalfa, which was usually over 100 lbs. a bale.
