They were probably just cutting across his lawn as they ran away with the take from the burglary at the neighbor's house.

If they are getting away, you shoot them in the leg first. Then when they turn around to see who shot at them...
It’s even more suspicious since I believe that the ME’s report has already been released - and the ME said (IIRC) that Horn shot them in the FRONT.
In the State of Washington you can use deadly force to prevent a “forcible felony” which includes burglary. I’m not sure if the deadly force can be used after the bad guy has taken the stuff and is fleeing, but it would seem to me if you shot the guy running away you prevented the burglary. I need to check into that for my own sake.
Hardly? They were criminals, plain and simple. Good riddance.

outraged minority activists?? lol... when are they not outraged?? oh... when a minority breaks into people’s homes and steals things, or even ends up shooting people like an NFL player or a regular person.
In the old days, any copper worth a s*** would back up the citizen’s version of what went down; in the first place, said copper would be embarrassed that Joe Citizen was quicker on the draw...

He was accused of shooting and killing Willie Nickell, son of a sheepman. Tom Horn was tried and hanged for that one in 1903.
I think Joe Horn was trying to take it upon himself to cut down on a big rash of liberal law and order. Look at those criminal records. That is the result of these two being caught and then being released over and over. I do not believe in vigilanteism, (it has its own costs) but, in the short run, I really believe he probably saved a few innocent lives.

I guess cops are okay with people running away after committing a crime, and would never ever think of using deadly force on a fleeing suspect.
It was actually just a Ron White joke...regarding the strange idea that you can’t shoot a dirty rotten crook in the back, so you’d have to get him to turn around and face you somehow.
Said dirty rotten crook would have no problem with shooting the homeowner in the back, of course.
Last I checked, one doesn't murder criminals just because they fall into that category. Not in America, anyway.
