It won’t matter. He shot them in the back which clearly indicates that they were not threatening him.
Because a criminal could never be pulling a weapon with his back turned?
Not necessarily. Inside your home Texas law gives one the right to shoot an intruder any time of day from any direction. After dark the same applies outdoors on your property. The new stand your ground law allows property owners even more leeway at any time of day if their home, property, auto, or business is threatened.
It's Texas. That isn't relevant. If it had been his own house, there wouldn't even be any discussion. Since it was the neighbors, there is at least a little room for debate, but he should get off.
In Texas it is legal to shoot someone engaged in criminal mischief after dark.
I thought they turned their back, to hide the fact they were pulling their weapons.....
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.....
Oh -- Don't be on MY property in the commission of a felony...
You may just die there...
Why the hell did it take 7 minutes for the police to get to a CRIME IN PROGRESS????
Were they afraid to face a couple of burglars?
Folks are learning to forget 911, and pick up Colt .45 or Ruger 12 gauge.
Exactly how many "seconds" was the "detective" on site - and why wasn't he addressing the perps????
If the Law Enforcers don't like to deal with dead perps, they should get there faster or do a better job of keep illegal aliens out of the country...
"Officer, They threatened me by actions and words and I feared for my life, and shot when I did because I did not want them to find cover and resume their unlawful activity. Now I want a lawyer".
The guy is a hero in my book, however in today's society, he might just be sacrificed to the PC gawds. If there is a defense fund, I'll contribute. Americans are tired of being preyed upon by recidivist criminals and invaded by illegals.
It may matter if they were running with stolen property.
