TOPEKA | News of a sexual harassment complaint against Attorney General Paul Morrison touched off a firestorm in Kansas political circles Sunday, ranging from cautious support to calls for impeachment.
Morrison acknowledged having an affair with a former employee in the Johnson County district attorneys office, but he denied harassing her.
Morrison also denied her allegations that he tried to use the relationship to obtain sensitive information about an abortion investigation by his successor, Phill Kline. Morrison said he never tried to influence ongoing cases.
Several lawmakers said Sunday that while the affair and alleged sexual harassment were troubling, it was the accusation that Morrison tried to meddle with Klines office that could prompt the Legislature to get involved.
If it turns out factually that the attorney general attempted to interfere with the D.A.s office in a criminal case, that will have serious consequences, said Rep. Arlen Siegfreid, an Olathe Republican. If that kind of activity is going on, it violates everything I know about the ethics of the bar.

Political party, that is. News about his partying ARE in the article.
Yeah, I checked on Google. He is a democrat.
Absolutely amazing that the political party in these scandals is only mentioned if the alleged perp is a Republican.
It's even better than that. Morrison was the Republican DA of Johnson County, until he switched parties in order to run for attorney general against his political enemy, incumbent AG Phill Kline, also a Republican. Morrison beat Kline for AG, but Kline wound up in Morrison's old job, Johnson County DA. How that happened is a long story, but the feud between the two has been very bitter and public. I noticed that in this story, Morrison is accusing Kline of outing the mistress and her EEOC complaint.
Oh Lovely.
Does Morrison’s Linda Carter look anything like Lynda Carter?
I have no idea. The JoCo DA’s office is a big place, and I only know a few of the people who work there.
I find best when mentioning 'that' party to drop the democ and just use the RAT. It's much more descriptive of their true nature. Ask our troops in Iraq.
So many skeletons in closets that are being brought out. It’s going to look like Halloween before this year is over.
Paul Morrison has got some splanin’ to do.
"..Morrison spokeswoman Ashley Anstaett also told a Wichita newspaper that Morrison's campaign received no contributions from Tiller or the political action committee he supports, called ProKanDo.
However, a group called Kansas for Consumer Privacy Protection was active in the campaign, and it held the same address as ProKanDo, according to the newspaper.
Also, Morrison during his campaign had told the Lawrence Journal-World that he thought state money was being used for "misplaced priorities" in an investigation of abortion business practices in the state and he would instead use that to start a domestic violence unit.
He also got a huge boost in his campaign when a non-profit organization that the newspaper linked to Tiller mailed hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of mailings critical of Kline. .."
He must be a Democrat, otherwise the article would be headlined as such. My beeber is stuned the article is even written.
He will keep his job.
He’s a Democrat.
Imagine.... a guy who wants babies to be killed also has some other moral indiscretions.... Say it ain’t so!
Why is it that people always act surprised when they elect someone with known bad morals and they find out their bad morals don’t just apply to one specific sin?
It amazed me that people thought Bill Clinton a known adulterer would clean up his act if he became the most powerful man in the world and acted surprised that not only would he continue his adultery but he would even go so far as to lie and say he did not have sexual relations with that woman. Oh my goodness! Not only does he piss on his marriage vows and make his wife, daughter, and nation a laughing stock but he fibs too ... How can this be? It is almost as if poor moral character can manifest itself in more than one way or instance ... Who could have thunk it?
Now I look forward to my fellow countrymen electing Bill Clinton’s wife who is known to be far more crooked and less religious than even Bill. We know she stole secret intelligence files, We know she was at the heart of the Whitewater scandal, She was at the heart of the White House travel office scandal, We know she’s broken campaign finance laws for more money and more often than any other candidate, and in many things far worse the trail seems to point towards Hillary’s desire to win at any cost. She has planted questions in campaign events. She was also complicit in covering up Bill’s womanizing past and present. When she has demonstrated and even written a thesis saying it is acceptable to do wrong if it is for a good cause, how stupid are we if we even trust this crook for a second. Apparently She feels that everything she does is for a good cause and so the laws just don’t apply to a caped crusader for socialist justice like herself.
Can I be the first to go on record as saying that if She gets elected we’ll see federal corruption like never before.
It is so much a part of who she is, it is as if “corruption for our cause” is her platform. And her Democrat backers know she’s crooked and revel in it. They seemingly say “She may be a crook, but she is our crook, and she is good at it”. Not only will she be horribly corrupt if elected, but the entire Democrat side of D.C. will know from day one that it is open season for graft, corruption, and any other sort of evil they want to get away with once Hillary is queen! And even the RINOs will be able to get in on it if they are willing to sell their souls to her.
Our kids will foot the bill and have to clean politics up the hard way if we let Hillary win.
In my humble opinion a Rudy G. Administration would also not be led by conscience. Rudy has had numerous affairs, appointed crooks and done all the things that point to him being a man who puts his own interest above absolute moral purity. Nobody is absolutely morally pure, but it makes a huge difference if a person believes it is worth striving for.
Probably because Kline's campaign dredged up a harassment complaint made against Morrison, and which turned out to be bogus. Looks like they were just looking in the wrong place. I've heard that Morrison had ambitions for governor somewhere down the road. This may well put a stake through those ambitions.
I don’t live in Kansas. I’m just passing through this post, but when I did not see the word “Republican” in the first sentence I knew the whole story. Jayhawk GOPers, go get that seat!
I think it's in the AP style manual. ;-)
