Terri's Day Announced - March 31 - Groups Call for Special Remembrances of Terri Schiavo

NEW YORK, December 10, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation and Priests for Life have jointly announced the establishment of the "International Day of Prayer and Remembrance for Terri Schindler Schiavo, and All of Our Vulnerable Brothers and Sisters" ("Terri's Day"), to be observed each year on March 31, the date of Terri's death.

The purpose of the day, the groups explained, is to foster education, prayer, and activism regarding discrimination against the disabled, and advocacy for people in situations similar to what Terri and her family faced.

Fr. Frank Pavone said, "Those of us who were with Terri will never forget her life and her death. For the sake of all the vulnerable, it is critically important that those who never knew Terri likewise remember the lessons that God taught us through her."

Suzanne Vitadamo, Terri's sister, adds, "No family should ever have to witness what my family witnessed, watching a loved one slowly dehydrate to death. We want Terri's day to remind us all that persons with disabilities are never burdens and should be treated with nothing but our unconditional love and compassion."

In the early weeks of 2008, educational and prayer materials will be released that can be used by parishes, disability and pro-life groups and all communities to observe Terri's Day.

Speaking of assaults on Christianity, a new “art exhibit” is about how the Virgin Mary would have a job at Hooters if she was alive today:

This case has a parallel to the plight of Terri!

I hope all get a chance to check it out in this thread by wagglebee just posted.

A legal battle is raging in Manitoba between doctors who want to take an 84-year-old man off life support and his family who says pulling the plug would be tantamount to murder according to their religious beliefs.

Samuel Golubchuk's family says it would be a sin under the Orthodox Jewish faith to "hasten" his death by removing the ventilator and feeding tube.

"They believe that an intentional act which likely will result in death is murder," said Neil Kravetsky, the family's lawyer...............

Family argues taking 84-year-old off life support is against their faith

Just because you can do something doesn’t mean it’s the right thing. Who’s business is it of total strangers trying to over rule the family.

Fred and Terri tar baby dailies...

In this instance the author offers an explanation as to why it sticks.

.......Thompson was given no time to get his act together when he finally stepped into the spotlight as a full-fledged presidential candidate. Because he started late with sky-high expectations, the national media were after him from the beginning, pointing out his every misstep—and admittedly there were a lot of them. After speaking in Iowa, he had to ask an audience, “Can I have a round of applause?” In South Carolina, he actually said, “We need to do more of what is working and stop doing what isn’t working.” On Iraq, he made this profound point: “The solution is to do whatever we need to do, whatever is necessary to stabilize that place.” He seemed to dismiss Osama bin Laden, describing him as “more symbolism than anything else.” His first trip to Florida was really ugly. Among his faux pas, he couldn’t recall the details of Terri Schiavo’s right-to-die case. He was keeping a light schedule too and, when he did make appearances, he didn’t answer many questions from voters..................

What’s the Matter with Fred?... How media image-makers are killing Thompson’s presidential bid—with a little help from the candidate himself

Rubio is accessible and his staff is cordial and helpful. Crist is a bubblehead wanting a new baseball stadium. We need tax and insurance reform, not a new boondoggle (cuz it would be by his condo. Charlie is Charlie’s governor - very narrow perspective).

The Terri supporters who were stunned that nobody saved her completely dropped out of activism and stopped voting. Disabled people are afraid they’re going to get it someday. That’s the message her murder sent. The people were betrayed. Politicians and judges were superior to legal, moral and religious principles. The rule of law now outed as a total sham if there was ever any doubt.

Well, Maxam went to Terri's Gulfport Mass and so did Berlin. More impressive that Fr. Pavone was there. Pope John Paul had just passed away himself).

More impressive was that Glenn Beck was there with his wife. (He mentioned seeing me there the next day on the radio. It was the saddest memorial I'd ever attended and I gestured to the family who sat next to Glenn. I guess I looked torn to Beck cuz I was). We were all shocked and torn. Except maybe the aforementioned pair.

Oh, they tase people here instead of assaulting them in children’s closets. Lots of deceased taser victims in Fla.

Person in question emailed me that Terri was dead because of the religious wackos (words to that effect).

I would say the truth be told, it was the degenerate judicial system. Person wasn't even around in 2003 in which Terri got a reprieve after starving/dehydrating for shy of ten days. Saving lives and exposing euthanasia as the worst corporate Amerika has to offer cannot be copyrighted.

I may have that email but unless it is demanded for "proof" I won't post it.

Money and power killed Terri, not the faithful or the unfaithful. Terri had millions of supporters, apparently, said person who is against exploitation of Terri has been exploiting Terri all along, well, after jumping on the bandwagon somewhat late. Above is MY OPINION and what I happen to know for fact. End of topic for me.

When the person in question first showed up at FR, offering to print stories that favored Terri, and asking for financial contributions in exchange, I had a bad feeling about her. I’m sad to see that my initial assessment of her character (or lack thereof) was accurate and has remained so.

Golly, maybe gay doesn't mean happy like it used to. We straight guys are happy, but with that logic maybe we should call ourselves sads to show we are happy. Maybe I am puzzled, maybe not, but that bunch showed up in force to rail against Terri living. Hmmm, odd. This blurb comes from the wash blade. Anyway this guy rummaged in the attic for the freshest mantra he could find, scraped off the mold, and wiped it free of any drips of truth and tried it out again. Too bad new mantras aren't selling on eBay right now and the old ones are not collector items yet.

Since that is all in their arsenal, the left has little choice but to wave them and choke on the mold spores.

Good thing for him I am about the only straight to read this, and just may be driven to Huckabee by such rattling.

You can point to the disproportionate number of Department of Justice employees who have graduated from none other than Rev. Pat Robertson’s law school as an example of this influence. Then there was the inappropriate White House-backed intervention in a personal family matter in the Terri Schiavo case. Add that to the successful appointments of two very conservative Supreme Court justices as well as other anti-gay administration appointees who were the darlings of the religious right.

Separating state from the church Gay... For gays, keeping Huckabee out of the White House is a must.

Recycling Mantras for Dummies...

This guy found another decomposing mantra in the attic.

If he'd wanted to work this building into VMDO's design, he could easily have done so. Instead, he's given your readers an unpleasant display of partisanship bordering on hackery. If this house is a patient on life support, Bob Moje is as qualified to pronounce on its condition as Bill Frist was to pronounce on Terri Schiavo's.

Coleus has a thread on the powerful discovery of a researcher, one that cuts quite literally to the core of Life...

Kyoto, Japan (LifeNews.com) -- Dr. Shinya Yamanaka of Kyoto University made international headlines recently when he devised a new process that allows for the creation of embryonic stem cells without the destruction of human life. Now, Yamanaka says he was prompted to search for ethical alternatives by his own conscience. Invited by a friend to take a look at a human embryo -- a unique human being -- under a microscope, Dr. Yamanaka had a moral spark that changed his career.

“When I saw the embryo, I suddenly realized there was such a small difference between it and my daughters,” the father of two told the New York Times today. The glimpse into the beginnings of human life motivated him to seek out alternatives to the destruction of human beings for their stem cells for research............

Thread by wagglebee on a high and mighty who had not yet read the thread, above, by Coleus:

Dr. Williams, however, did not say that there was any universal moral principle at work that absolutely prohibits abortion, but implied that such a prohibition would apply only to Christians and that a possible legitimate exception for legal abortion could be in cases of pregnancy due to rape..............
