Mitt Romney Roughs Up Mike Huckabee Over Anti-Bush Comments
Fox News ^ | Dec. 15, 2007 | Shushannah Walshe and The Associated Press

Posted on 12/15/2007 12:32:38 PM PST by FocusNexus

Mitt Romney stepped up his attacks on GOP rival Mike Huckabee on Saturday, saying his statements that the Bush administration's policies overseas demonstrate an "arrogant bunker mentality" sound like they're coming from a Democrat.

Huckabee wrote the comments in the January-February issue of the journal Foreign Affairs, where he said President Bush's approach has been "counterproductive" and urged a shift in diplomatic tone.

"I had to look again," Romney said in Humboldt, Iowa. "I said, 'Did this come from Barack Obama? Or from Hillary Clinton? Did it come from John Edwards?' No. It was one of our own. It was Gov. Huckabee.

"He said the Bush administration is guilty of an 'arrogant bunker mentality' that has been counterproductive here and abroad. I simply can't believe that. I can't believe he'd say that. I'm afraid he's running for the wrong party. The truth of the matter is this president's kept us safe these last six years."

Huckabee is being promoted by the mainstream media - - what does that tell you?

Interesting. Some might consider that Romney is going out on a limb by supporting GWB when his negatives are where they are (which are still way above the ratings for congress).

The Huckster is attacking Bush on the war on terror, one area where he has done a reasonably credible job, and has an even worse record than Bush on securing the border, one area where he has done a truly lousy job.

The Huckster should take Guilani, his running mate, over to the Democrat side and run for their nomination.

I will second that. The more I hear from Huckabee, the less I like him. He is at the bottom of my list right above Ron Paul.

Says it all right there or at least most of it. And Huckabee supported tuition breaks for illegal immigrants? Mitt is doing his job. Shining the light on the leftist mentality and actions of Huckabee.

Mitt is raising even more steeply in my mind as a man that would make a darn good president of the United States. He is not afraid to put the gloves on when needed, but also has the diplomacy and ability to communicate effectively. The Republican party needs a good communicator for our principles and is a good role model. Mitt is an excellent role model in so many ways.

He [Gomer Huckster] said the Bush administration is guilty of an 'arrogant bunker mentality' that has been counterproductive here and abroad.

Right out of the Reid/Pelosi playbook. Only surprise is he didn't go to the "Cheney runs the whole show from his bunker" card. ...but that might be coming soon.

From reading what Huck said, sound just like what Hillary is saying or what she said the other day when Rush was playing her audio clip.

Clinton/Huckabee ... 2008.

Huckabee is a divider, not a uniter.

He's a uniter when it comes to (literally) uniting the U.S. and Mexico.
