Mitt Romney Roughs Up Mike Huckabee Over Anti-Bush Comments
Fox News ^ | Dec. 15, 2007 | Shushannah Walshe and The Associated Press

Posted on 12/15/2007 12:32:38 PM PST by FocusNexus

Mitt Romney stepped up his attacks on GOP rival Mike Huckabee on Saturday, saying his statements that the Bush administration's policies overseas demonstrate an "arrogant bunker mentality" sound like they're coming from a Democrat.

Huckabee wrote the comments in the January-February issue of the journal Foreign Affairs, where he said President Bush's approach has been "counterproductive" and urged a shift in diplomatic tone.

"I had to look again," Romney said in Humboldt, Iowa. "I said, 'Did this come from Barack Obama? Or from Hillary Clinton? Did it come from John Edwards?' No. It was one of our own. It was Gov. Huckabee.

"He said the Bush administration is guilty of an 'arrogant bunker mentality' that has been counterproductive here and abroad. I simply can't believe that. I can't believe he'd say that. I'm afraid he's running for the wrong party. The truth of the matter is this president's kept us safe these last six years."

I call it, the MSM conspiracy against Fred.
But, the egg shells are empty for the leading top tier GOP candidates, something in my gut tells me that the base support for Fred is stronger than what the MSM tells us.
Until we see real numbers, the media hype for MSM's favorites, Rudy, Mitt, Huck, are fluff and puff... media hype.

Wow. The more I hear of this guy, the more I dislike him. Seems like a hybrid of Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton but with an (R) next to his name — and possibly less intelligent.

Yikes.

I just about died a few years ago when Nancy Reagan was basically saying Bush was too conservative and pointing to his stance on Pro Life. The Reagans as wonderful as they were were not staunch Pro lifers, nor did they do all they could to stand against Roe v Wade and to push in a new direction

Using the comments and positions on the issues of Mrs. Reagan to somehow state that these were the positions of President Reagan and to provide cover for your candidate is a cheap and deceitful little trick!

President Reagan was extremely Pro-Life as his actions as President show.

I dare you to show actual statements and actions FROM PRESIDENT REAGAN that support your contention!

Even though I got discouraged and wondered what was going on with the Thompson campaign, and putting my hand to my forehead in wondering what was going on, I still held my support with Fred, never wavered.

Never knew that Maureen helped influence Ronaldus Magnus towards Republicanism, though looking at her bio it makes sense — she seems to be a lifelong Republican. Though what’s interesting is that Wikipedia claims that Maureen was pro-choice while her father was not.

Very interesting.

November voters will choose a Bush or an Unbush based on the economy and Iraq at that time. Candidates start your engines.

I’ll give Romney credit on this one.

The Huckster is losing it even faster than I thought he would.

I don't doubt or question what you are saying, I was just stating a fact.
But, it still does make us wonder.. why ? ohhh why did Reagan appoint O'Conner to the bench of the Supreme Court ?

Well, they do. - and I’m not interesting in Mitt at all.

Frankly, I was appalled.

MSM calls Fred lazy. I think his best shot is winning South Carolina but Huckabee has all the momentum with the religious conservatives.

" Using the comments and positions on the issues of Mrs. Reagan to somehow state that these were the positions of President Reagan "

In Bill Clinton's case, this was more true than what they wanted us to know.

The more Huck opens his mouth the more liberal he becomes.
This man is a detriment and a sham to conservatives. He is a one issue conservative. Pro-life. From what Ive heard so far everything else becomes liberal.
