You can be a good welder or a good grinder. I’m a good grinder.

Bag in my Sub days, we used to always take the welders to sea with us for sea trials after any major welding job.

Not sure this info should be made public. Makes me a bit uncomfortable.

Wasn’t there a sub not long ago that ran into an underwater mountain and the Navy’s plans were to cut off the nose, and weld a new one into its place?

I think I’d have second thoughts about that around now.

The hull is cut up and rewelded all the time. Not a big deal.

Repairs, upgrades, refueling the reactor, etc. They’re designed with this in mind.

>>> Ummmm....ok....what on earth for?

To remove and replace parts that won’t come out any other way, like an engine or generator.

I have a tenant (cerbaco) that makes ceramic backing plates used in ship welding of the plate seams. The Guy has a patent on the process. He lost a large contract to the Chicoms. They copied his patent and undercut him on large contracts.

Watcha wanna bet!

We are doomed!

This means all the boats have to return to bases for inspection obviously.

Where is Seaquest when we need it?
