Psalms 74:1 A Contemplation of Asaph. O God, why have You cast us off forever? Why does Your anger smoke against the sheep of Your pasture?
Psalms 74:2 Remember Your congregation, which You have purchased of old, The tribe of Your inheritance, which You have redeemed-This Mount Zion where You have dwelt.
Psalms 74:3 Lift up Your feet to the perpetual desolations. The enemy has damaged everything in the sanctuary.
Psalms 74:4 Your enemies roar in the midst of Your meeting place; They set up their banners for signs.
Psalms 74:5 They seem like men who lift up Axes among the thick trees.
Psalms 74:6 And now they break down its carved work, all at once, With axes and hammers.
Psalms 74:7 They have set fire to Your sanctuary; They have defiled the dwelling place of Your name to the ground.
Psalms 74:8 They said in their hearts, "Let us destroy them altogether." They have burned up all the meeting places of God in the land.
Psalms 74:9 We do not see our signs; There is no longer any prophet; Nor is there any among us who knows how long.
Psalms 74:10 O God, how long will the adversary reproach? Will the enemy blaspheme Your name forever?
Psalms 74:11 Why do You withdraw Your hand, even Your right hand? Take it out of Your bosom and destroy them.
Psalms 74:12 For God is my King from of old, Working salvation in the midst of the earth.
Psalms 74:13 You divided the sea by Your strength; You broke the heads of the sea serpents in the waters.
Psalms 74:14 You broke the heads of Leviathan in pieces, And gave him as food to the people inhabiting the wilderness.
Psalms 74:15 You broke open the fountain and the flood; You dried up mighty rivers.
Psalms 74:16 The day is Yours, the night also is Yours; You have prepared the light and the sun.
Psalms 74:17 You have set all the borders of the earth; You have made summer and winter.
Psalms 74:18 Remember this, that the enemy has reproached, O LORD, And that a foolish people has blasphemed Your name.
Psalms 74:19 Oh, do not deliver the life of Your turtledove to the wild beast! Do not forget the life of Your poor forever.
Psalms 74:20 Have respect to the covenant; For the dark places of the earth are full of the haunts of cruelty.
Psalms 74:21 Oh, do not let the oppressed return ashamed! Let the poor and needy praise Your name.
Psalms 74:22 Arise, O God, plead Your own cause; Remember how the foolish man reproaches You daily.
Psalms 74:23 Do not forget the voice of Your enemies; The tumult of those who rise up against You increases continually. (NKJV)
DEAR LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR THIS DAY, THIS HOUR AND THIS SECOND.
LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR THIS TIME YOUR SAINTS CAN GATHER BEFORE YOUR THRONE OF GRACE WITH PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION.

LORD, WE PRAY FOR THIS COUNTRY, A LAND FORMED ON THE PRINCIPALS YOU GAVE US. WE PRAY FOR A RETURN TO A TIME WHEN THIS LAND WAS BASED ON GOD, DUTY AND HONOR.
LORD, WE PRAY FOR YOUR SOVEREIGN HAND OF PROTECTION AGAINST ALL WHO THREATEN OUR LAND.
WE PRAY THAT THE DECEPTIVE LIES OF POLITICAL DESPOTS AND THE MEDIA WILL FALL ON DEAF EARS AND ONLY YOUR TRUTH WILL BE HEARD.

Yes, Lord, thou dost not abdicate thy throne when the sun goeth down, nor dost thou leave the world all through these long wintry nights to be the prey of evil; thine eyes watch us as the stars, and thine arms surround us as the zodiac belts the sky. The dews of kindly sleep and all the influences of the moon are in thy hand, and the alarms and solemnities of night are equally with thee. This is very sweet to me when watching through the midnight hours, or tossing to and fro in anguish. There are precious fruits put forth by the moon as well as by the sun: may my Lord make me to be a favoured partaker in them.
The night of affliction is as much under the arrangement and control of the Lord of Love as the bright summer days when all is bliss. Jesus is in the tempest. His love wraps the night about itself as a mantle, but to the eye of faith the sable robe is scarce a disguise. From the first watch of the night even unto the break of day the eternal Watcher observes his saints, and overrules the shades and dews of midnight for his people's highest good. We believe in no rival deities of good and evil contending for the mastery, but we hear the voice of Jehovah saying, "I create light and I create darkness; I, the Lord, do all these things. "
Gloomy seasons of religious indifference and social sin are not exempted from the divine purpose. When the altars of truth are defiled, and the ways of God forsaken, the Lord's servants weep with bitter sorrow, but they may not despair, for the darkest eras are governed by the Lord, and shall come to their end at his bidding. What may seem defeat to us may be victory to him.
