American Zionist group slams U.S. gov't on campus anti-Semitism

The Zionist Organization of America condemned the U.S. government's Office for Civil Rights on Wednesday for failing to protect Jewish students it says have been subject to a series of anti-Semitic provocations on the campus of the University of California, Irvine.

The ZOA alleged that Muslim students on campus have given anti-Semitic speeches, distributed Judeophobic literature, and used intimidation tactics against Jewish students. The university's failure to take disciplinary action constitutes discrimination against Jewish students, the ZOA charges.

The anti-Semites are emboldened by our relativistic culture and are encouraged by the P.C. academia crowd who don’t have the fortitude to stand up and rebuke this type of behavior. This has happened over and over throughout Jewish history and it is good to see this group taking a stand against it.

Muslims are the new PC protected minority class of victims. So they can’t be anti-semitic. Just another in a long line.

In its decision, OCR disregarded the fact that a Holocaust memorial was destroyed; that swastikas repeatedly defaced property on the campus; that a rock was thrown at a Jewish student; and that other Jewish students were harassed and verbally threatened with such statements as "slaughter the Jews," "dirty Jew," go back to Russia," "burn in hell," and "f_ _king Jew." According to OCR, these incidents did not show a pattern or practice of discrimination, but were instead "isolated" and "unrelated" acts "that cannot be said to create a single hostile environment." In its decision, OCR did not even acknowledge the fact that two Jewish students left UCI because they could no longer endure the hostility they faced on campus. The agency also ignored that many Jewish students reported being too afraid to wear yarmulkes or anything that might identify them as Jews or supporters of Israel; to go to certain areas of the campus where they would be subjected to false and vicious attacks against Jews, Zionists (today's code word for Jews), and Israel; or to participate in or affiliate with Jewish or pro-Israel programs and activities. Even when ZOA's National President, Morton A. Klein, was invited to speak at UCI, Jewish students were so frightened about the possibility of verbal and physical assaults by other students at the lecture that they pleaded with Mr. Klein to speak at an off-campus location.

Pathetic

Yep. Imagine OCR’s response if anything remotely comparable had been done to black students.

Way back when, some 35 or so years ago, I thought the JDL was maybe a bit too extreme. Now? With the stuff going on in campuses all over the USA, and with the college administrations doing little or nothing to protect Jewish students (or Christian students for that matter) against intimidation, threats, harassment and worse, I’ve started concluding that the JDL may be what is needed to protect those students. Our campuses resemble Stalin’s USSR or Nazi Germany (when it comes to Jewish and Christian students) more than what used to be the USA. Sad. Yes, unfortunately, it could happen here.

An old acquaintance during my school days used to wear a button that read, “I Am A Zionist”, and she got hassled by some rags (all men of course; at least at that time the Muzzies didn’t send women to school either at home or abroad) who wound up shouting that the Jews should go the same place they went in WWII.

I guess that wouldn’t happen now, because everyone knows the Holocaust is a myth. /sarc

Truth is Orange county hasn't been the friendliest place for Jews to live, period. I had friends who were virtually forced to move from their neighborhood out of fear of the neighbors.

It wasn't always the nasty on campus Muslims that were the one's doing and saying nasty things.

Yes. I saw some propaganda spread around the Net during the '90s, even from Huntington Beach individuals.

No, the ACLU supports the organized discrimination in Arabist departments like Middle East Studies, History, and languages.

Middle East studies departments recieve millions in subsidies under the idea that they will educate translators and experts useful to the US. Instead they create a fifth column
