So the socialists at Time chose the press-squashing, opponent-jailing, freedom-restricting Vlad the Putin. Pathetic choice, I agree.
I would like to have this thread be a place where we can have a conversation about who OUGHT to be the "Person of the Year".
No real rules, since a conversation can go several places.
I would suggest, however, that we pick someone who is not an "icon", or who could credibly be the POY every single year.
For instance, Rush Limbaugh--I love the guy, and he COULD be POY every year...but he is pretty much extraordinary EVERY year. I am thinking we ought to suggest someone who has, this year especially, been a hero to advancing the cause of freedom.
But hey, that is just a suggestion. Let's have some fun.
If there hasn’t been, I can think of one, but cannot decide which year:
Phyllis Schlafly.
Corey Stewart, Commissioner of Prince William Co., VA and his relentless fight against illegal immigration in that county.
I’ll give the President all the points he needs from me. Yeah, I disagree with him on immigration and some other issues, but his resolute steadfastness in the war makes him a good choice in my eyes.
We are going to miss his leadership in that respect no matter who we elect.
Tony Romo. :)
I firmly believe that if TIME weren't some lefty mouthpiece, General Petraeus would be the hands-down, no-holds-barred Person of the Year.
I arrived in the wonderful USA yesterday for a couple or weeks. I head back to Iraq in early January.
This place is awesome!
In the bigger world of FReeRepublic there are so many to choose from.
Maybe have FReeRepublic on Time’s cover. They have had computers on their cover, so why not FR?
[Mr] T
How could it not be Petraeus? Or Sarko? Or even JK Rowling. What exactly did Putin accompolish, except be another anti-Bush voice.
Well, that’s fine, but there is also no General Petraeus without George Bush. I suppose that one could look at it from the point of view that if there were more attacks of Islam-o-fascist terror on American soil that it would cut down on illegal immigration.
"Back home" as in somewhere else in the US other than Louisiana, right?
Because if your co-workers are here and do not consider the US "home" they can GTFO. And Jindal is just as much a citizen as you and I, so "back home" to him is actually Louisiana.
Awwww, that’s so nice. Thank you.
All the Walter Reed Freepers! :)
I nominate them all for so many reason I cannot list. :)
BTTT
Wow, could you maybe come up with a more completely ignorant statement? Your bigotry is showing.
I am a little biased.
No problem with immigrants from anywhere—actual immigrants (i.e., “we want to be AMERICANS now”). The people here to take advantage of the big PX and keep some kind of label before the hyphen can GTFO.
Real immigrants care about the HOME they choose, this country. Leeches and hyphenated types consider whatever craphole they came from “home”.
Awwww! *Christmas HUGS to you TT!*
Your link about covers my opinion, thanks for posting the link here.
I would gladly second you nomination of:
