Forget "Time": Who is your FR "Person of the Year"?
FREEPers Everywhere!

So the socialists at Time chose the press-squashing, opponent-jailing, freedom-restricting Vlad the Putin. Pathetic choice, I agree.
I would like to have this thread be a place where we can have a conversation about who OUGHT to be the "Person of the Year".
No real rules, since a conversation can go several places.
I would suggest, however, that we pick someone who is not an "icon", or who could credibly be the POY every single year.
For instance, Rush Limbaugh--I love the guy, and he COULD be POY every year...but he is pretty much extraordinary EVERY year. I am thinking we ought to suggest someone who has, this year especially, been a hero to advancing the cause of freedom.
But hey, that is just a suggestion. Let's have some fun.

Ditto to nominating the Walter Reed FReepers for FReepers of the year. By acclamation. General Petraeus for Man of the Year. No contest.

Not me, I just read the posts and make some silly replies. Thanks for putting me in stellar company though!
Sister Allegra deserves it for her continuous work in Iraq, and Ma for her selfless support of the troops through the Canteen and kickbutt care packages! LOL
But I'll stick with ALL Canteen Troopers as my nomination.

Thanks for the photo.

Remember, the “Time Person of the Year” is not neccesarily an honor, merely the person who had the biggest impact during the year.
As for the “FR Person of the Year”, which I assume is an honor, I’m going to have to go with:
“Prominent Americans Who Were Attacked By the Far Left Fringe”
From David Petraeus, who changed the course of the war, while being called a liar and “Betray-us”, to Rush Hudson Limbaugh III, who would not submit to being smeared, even when 41 dumb-as-a-box-of-nails senators demanded that he apologize for something he did not say. They showed patience, humor, and humility even when their integrity was questioned and their careers endangered. For that, this award is for them.

Thanks for the ping, GodBlessUSA. It's our privilege to meet and greet the soldiers, who are the true men and women of the year, along with General Petraeus.
Pinging Walter Reed regulars.

He is the one who put the General in place. For all his faults, I still am glad he is and was our president on 9/11. God forbid the thought of how submissive Albore would have been on that day.
