So the socialists at Time chose the press-squashing, opponent-jailing, freedom-restricting Vlad the Putin. Pathetic choice, I agree.
I would like to have this thread be a place where we can have a conversation about who OUGHT to be the "Person of the Year".
No real rules, since a conversation can go several places.
I would suggest, however, that we pick someone who is not an "icon", or who could credibly be the POY every single year.
For instance, Rush Limbaugh--I love the guy, and he COULD be POY every year...but he is pretty much extraordinary EVERY year. I am thinking we ought to suggest someone who has, this year especially, been a hero to advancing the cause of freedom.
But hey, that is just a suggestion. Let's have some fun.
Fred !
Fred!
Fred!
Not a lot of “Zoom-Zoom-Zoom” right now, but for most of the year, he kept our attention as we anticipated his announcement.
Patraeus is an obvious choice but Sarkozy gives him great competition
Good call, I nominate Allegra and jveritas.
BTW, folks, Roberts Rules calls for seconds.
Good choices, but for Freepers I would nominate the entire DC Chapter of Free Republic starting with the Trooprally’s, who have spent EVERY SINGLE FRIDAY NIGHT for the last several years out in front of Walter Reed combating the Moonbats.
Of the three there’s no wrong choice, but I have to say General Petraeus.
General Petraeus. Period. Nobody else even close.
Sarkozy is a great choice. I’m not sure why Inhofe is in there.
Pissant?
I can see that.
If we were nominating FR’s “Time Out-Mods put him on suspension again” FReeper of the year.
(How many time outs do you have under your belt, there Pissy? I wonder if anyone knows?)
There are indeed many good choices to include kristen and dfu. Is there an official “Freeper of the Year”? Maybe there should be.
Absolutely. I third that nomination.
General Petraeus would be my choice.
While Petraus is deserving as well; in my mind the success in Iraq being witnessed via the surge was inevitable (providing a Dem didn't get power). Sarkozy represents a surge of different sort; the average European and French citizen, despite whatever the MSM may want to say, is well onboard with thinking the Islamist threat must be dealt with.
I was in Europe earlier this year and was told repeatedly in France in the run-up to their election to "not listen to the bad mouths in Paris, we love the Americans."
Like the Clinton-era 90's here, the leadership of France prior to Sarkozy was the problem, enabled by a leftist media.
Thanks tube.. lol
That was old unmarked $5s $10s and $20s, Right? ;-)
I like General Petraeus myself..
We don’t hear a lot from him of late, Thanks to the media. That means something, I reckun.
And rightly so, for atrocious grammar!
LOL...for THAT, he should be drawn and quartered.
If you picked SOLDIERS, you’ll like this.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I cannot find the names, but my nominees are the people who showed that you can do whatever you need with skin cells instead of stem cells. Stem cell research was the slipperiest part of the slope that some otherwise conservative people were falling off of to desanctify innocent human life.
PISSANT!!
