Fred is about where Kerry was at this point in 2004. Huckabee and Romney are about where Dean and Gephardt were. The MSM and their pundit minions are in their death throes of trying to throw cold water on Thompson. The next round of stories will be to the effect that Iowa does not really matter. It is New Hampshire. They are not going to go gently into the good night.

Any idea what this poll showed the last time it was conducted and when that was?

Wow, I thought I just saw a couple of polls where McCain was surging in Iowa and NH. This is better than the last few polls I have seen.

I have been thinking a lot about that late Kerry surge, where peopole realized that the front-runner was nuts (Dean) and had no chance of winning.
That surge, however, had little to do with Kerry, and more to do with Dean-a-phobia.
I can see Fred beginning a similar surge.
BTW, Huck is the nut in this scenario.
To: Brices Crossroads
Definate signs of Thompson movement, but Huck has also gained in this poll. The big loser is Guiliani who has lost over half his support in 2 weeks
DEC 6 - Huck 27, Mitt 24, Rudy 13, Fred 11, John 6
Dec 13 - Huck 30, Mitt 25, Fred 13, Rudy 10, John 5
Dec 20 - Huck 31, Mitt 25, Fred 16, John 8, Rudy 6
2 Week Change - Fred +5, Huck +4, John +2, Mitt +1, Rudy -7

I’d feel better if we saw this in a Rasmussen poll. Survey USA has been all over the map on their polls this primary season.

That is all you people are!
Fred Thompson is a CFR loving loser and Mitt is the one true Conservative!
I am sorry I cannot have any part in this terrible plot to attempt to destroy the one man who is pretty enough to beat Hillary...

600 likely (by their model, at least) voters, MOE 4.5.
Survey taken Dec 16-18, which means the King endorsement may be reflected in Thompson’s numbers, but not completely, as it came out on the 17th and many folks might not have heard about it until the 18th or later. (Rule of thumb, from what I gather, is that events often take 3 to 4 days to really show up in polls).

Now, there is some good news. Romney is a liar and flip-flopper and would discredit the Republican party and conservatives that associate with him. So, hopefully, Fred can establish himself as the conservative alternative in the race.

For Republicans:
3. How important is it for the Republican presidential candidate to be a conservative Republican in the mode of Ronald Reagan, very important, somewhat important, not very important, not important, or undecided? (Republicans Only)
But...for Democrats:
7. When making your selection for a presidential candidate, what are you looking for most in the candidate, charisma, experience, or ideology? (Democrats Only)
Now...why no questioning dems on the importance of LIBERALISM in the mold of...say Carter? Why do libs get to avoid talking about being libs?

The next round of stories will be to the effect that Iowa does not really matter. It is New Hampshire. And I'm going to laugh my ass off when Ron Paul's minions flood into NH and vote in their open primary, handing NH to Paul and invalidating the state.

Due to my pro-life views, the only 2 candidates I can fervently support (that have any chance at this point) are Huckabee and Thompson.
Here is a question - if Huckabee were to be taken out by Romney’s attack machine, where do his voters go? To Romney? To Guiliani? To McCain? No, they go to the only other pro-life, pro-marriage Republican left in the race, Thopmson. That is, if he is still around by that time.

By these #’s, Fred’s been gaining as Rudy has been losing. I think there are 3 groups of Rudy supporters:
1) those who are looking for a strong leader and communicator,
2) those who are socially moderate, and
3) NYers who are grateful for what Rudy did to restore order there.
Fred’s a natural heir to the #1’s, even-keeled and non-bible-thumping enough for some #2’s, and only here and there positioned well for #3’s. So far Rudy’s the one losing in the polls, and Fred needs to pick up at least some of that.

She says she still loves the guy.
