"Nope, wrong again!" says Rafiki, the anthropomorphized monkey in The Lion King as he hits his wayward student on the head with his staff. Well, the so-called "no-compromise" NRA Bashers have again firmly sided with the extreme anti-gun movement in their opposition to the recently amended HR 2640, which now awaits the President's signature to become law. The NRA Bashers are wrong again and need a whack from Rafiki's staff. Here is the proof.

Here's an idea... "Shall not be infringed". If a person is criminal enough, or mentally deranged enough, we'll either lock them up longer or shoot them in self defense.
Nothing else passes the Constitutional "smell test". Or does this legislation magically impart new "mental health" adjudication powers to the list in Art 1 Sect 8?
So wait, now the NRA is saying that because I refuse to negotiate my gun rights away that makes me part of the anti-gun lobby?
If someone is prescribed xanax as temporary relief of some problem, would that ever be used against that person?
Of course, all this legislation presupposes that simply because someone was adjudicated mentally unstable, that such an one would be unable to purchase a firearm. As anybody who knows anything about guns knows, that's not the case.
Voluntarily and on your own accord go to a shrink and get your gun rights taken away.
This bill empowers the psych community at the expense of the people. Now that’s insane! The exchange of liberty for perceived security always destroys both.
I just wonder how much more the American people are going to take? Two years ago I told my wife we were headed for another civil war as we accelerate from socialism to outright communism. Strength of will and arms is all we are going to have. I am just afraid that most in this nation are to much afraid of losing what they have to fight for what is right.
You aren't the only one. I've said the same thing to my wife as well. First time she thought I was nuts. Then she started paying attention. Now she says buy more ammo.
Good question. I personally QUESTION the MENTAL health of ANYONE that goes to a university and majors in “social sciences” - and specifically WANTS to be a “Social worker”.
Those people are insane.
Now she says buy more ammo.
AMEN!! and pass me another magazine!
My wife did’nt take long to see it, and unlike some men I know she will pull the trigger.
A lot of people think this, most keep it to themselves though — one day, they are all going to be quietly standing in the streets, waiting... and then all hell will break loose and we’ll either have a lot of dead people, a new government or a complete and utter breakdown in our system.
all hell will break loose and well either have a lot of dead people, a new government or a complete and utter breakdown in our system.
My guess is all three, but this system we have now is FUBAR any way, so no great loss.
to term this legislation a great victory for the NRA is ludicrous. They’re sleeping with the enemy on this one. As far as I’m concerned, they sold out
Yes, that is how it appears.
Just one more reason why I don’t regret leaving the NRA long ago.
I quit the NRA in 88 when they supported the gun act that banned the making of more machine guns for the public.
Now, the 2nd is only for the rich I guess. I’m hoping for some kind of miracle from the next SC decision that the Second Ammendment really means what it says, that our Right to bear arms shall not be infringed by any F*CKING BODY, let alone some God-Damned politician!
Thats about the same time I left the organization as well. It was the issue you cite, along with the twice per week calls for more of my money in ‘donation’s’.
The scary thing is, even here on FR a solid majority always seems to tbe at the ready to defend the NRA as the only “effective” gun rights organization. Mention GOA and they say “they don’t have any influence”, “what did GOA ever accomplish?”, etc. Maybe if these idiots would stop sending money to the NRA and send it to GOA instead, GOA would be able to get a lot more done. For now, GOA is at least TRYING to get the right things done, which is a heck of a lot more than can be said of the NRA.
I agree. I give the GOA much more attention than I do the NRA, its been that way for the past several years now.
Agreed
