Rice Rejects Huckabee Criticism--Huckster Bodyslam Alert

WASHINGTON (AP) - In a brief foray into politics, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Friday denounced comments by a leading Republican presidential candidate that the Bush administration's foreign policy is arrogant and unilateral.

"The idea that somehow this is a go-it-alone policy is just simply ludicrous," she said at a State Department news conference. "One would only have to be not observing the facts, let me say that, to say that this is now a go-it-alone foreign policy."

Her remarks came in response to a question about criticism from former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who has surged in the polls to become a front-runner in the upcoming Iowa caucuses for the GOP presidential nomination. Huckabee recently said the administration's foreign policy was characterized by a "bunker mentality."

Huckabee is the one who ran ads boasting of being a Christian Leader. Huckabee is the one claiming his theological degree (now theological training) makes him specially qualified to fight the GWOT. Huckabee is the one who claimed an anti-illegal immigration Southern Baptist “drinks a different Jesus juice”.

Huckabee raises religion at every opportunity, then complains people are anti-Christian if they disagree with his policies.

"It is my observation that the MSM has imposed the religon issue on Mike Huckabee, not Huckabee himself."

That's his own fault. He hasn't had any grand speeches about how and why issues that affect everybody must be improved. I am tired of hearing about his religious beliefs. And Romney's too.

In politics, the Bible is an historical document. It's loaded with examples of bad ideas that should be learned from. It should inform, not guide politics. George Bush got it right. Agree or disagree with him, he will never waver from his decisions until they prove out to be the wrong decision and correct it decisively. That's leadership. Huckabee just isn't there.

"I don’t care what Huckabee said. It’s not like she doesn’t have her hands full already."

Do you expect any Secretary of State to stand there and watch her work being pissed on without comment? She represents the United States to other nations and is very respected. She was smart to use the words she chose. I don't think Huckabee understands what she told him.

“Do NOT mess with this lady. Not only does she nail it on the head, she has the class not to namecall as the Huckster did...”

She’s just another cog in foggy bottom. There is nothing exceptional about this woman’s performance. In fact, I’d call it shameful especially with regard to her statements on the Israeli-Palestinian relationship.

Ariel Sharon made the decision to withdraw from Gaza. After that was done, Hamas attacked Fatah and drove them out of Gaza or killed most of them. Bush supported Sharon’s original decision. Just a few inconvenient facts.

“No comment.” Those who give press conferences know the term.

Yes, I do - she’s a big girl now. I don’t think she as a cabinet officer should be inserting herself (negatively) into her own party’s presidential primary race. “No comment.”

A Condi slam-down. Take that, Huckster!

I guess the Huckabee/Rice ticket won't be happening anytime soon.

Huckabee is ignorant enough he could be confused for a Democrat.

“That said...I am thoroughly DISGUSTED by the way Huckabee has been treated by nearly every Republican I used to respect. “

I am DISGUSTED by the way Huckabee has treated President Bush by attacking his policies with the same terms that Democrats use.

OTOH the heat Huckabee is getting is nothing more than the normal vetting every Republican is getting. Rudy, Romney, and others have gotten far far worse treatment in FR, and as for the media, they’ve been more than helpful to Huckabee.

“Huckabee on my list of potentials is because everyone else is worse, in my opinion.” ??? I find about, oh 7 or 8 candidates better than Huckabee.

the electorate does not elect someone who thinks (or has opened his big mouth to the effect at any time in the past) that ‘women should submit to their husbands’.

His name is Barack Husayn Obama, elected to the US Senate from Illinois.

I can’t shake the feeling that the Huckster is a Republican Jimmy Carter. I’m asking myself, if he were the nominee against Hillary...should skip voting for President. Given the world as it is, what are America’s survival odds if either won?

If Condi is looking for religious war, the "only candidate with a Theology degree" is the one to give it to her.

One good lie deserves another eh, junior? You forgot one thing. Little Rock Fats is running for prezzydent but Condi isn't running for anything. Who d'you think has the most to lose?

Rice and Bush deserve the body slam — for arrogantly pushing Israel to give up their territory.

Huckabee is on the right side of that (too).

Huck confused for a Democrat? He IS A DEMOCRAT. It’s not very complicated.

Right wing = Limited Government, individual freedom, personal responsibility and free markets

Left wing = Government as a force for greater good

Huck is a leftist. I don’t care if he is a Buddhist, Hindu, Christian or Scientologist. He is a leftist. (<-—— notice the period)
