Silly me...being an Old Retired Army Guy you’re probably a McCain guy. Best of luck to you. I have a real hard time with CFR and I didn’t like a lot of the times he sided with the Rats over the last 8 years but I’ll vote for him if he gets the nomination.

Right now, it’s anybody but Romney. My first preference is Duncan Hunter, but I don’t have much confidence that he will be a “player”. After him, I like Thompson, but if he doesn’t make the “cut”, I will have to take a closer look at who is still “standing”. Just hope it’s not Romney.

Go to Realclearpolitics.com and bring up the editorial from the Concord Monitor that talks about “Why Romney should NOT be elected President”.

Here's a LINK to the editorial you mentioned.

Romney has had a horrible week with his various silly word parsings and such, but he’s still the favorite to win New Hampshire. He has a good organization in the state, he’s almost a favorite son, and he has more money to spend than McNutty.

A politician that goes from governing as a liberal (Romney was named the #8 RINO in the country by Human Events magazine just two years ago) to flip-flopping on virtually every major issue and claiming to be as conservative as Ronald Reagn is despicable human being.

As is a man that is habitual liar and backtracks when caught in lies Bill Clinton.

Regarding the lie he told about seeing his father march with Martin Luther King Jr.: Romney says that it depends on what the definition of "saw" is.

A defensive Romney was peppered with questions today on exactly what he meant when he said -- most recently on Meet the Press -- that he "saw" his father march with Martin Luther King Jr. Recent articles have indicated that his father, the late Michigan Gov. George Romney, didn't march with the civil-rights leader.

Admitting that he didn't see the march with his own eyes, he said, "I 'saw' him in the figurative sense."

"The reference of seeing my father lead in civil rights," he said, "and seeing my father march with Martin Luther King is in the sense of this figurative awareness of and recognition of his leadership."

"I've tried to be as accurate as I can be," he continued, smiling firmly. "If you look at the literature or look at the dictionary, the term 'saw' includes being aware of -- in the sense I've described."

The questioning did not relent. "I'm an English literature major," he insisted at one point. "When we say I saw the Patriots win the World Series, it doesn't necessarily mean you were there." (He meant the Super Bowl, of course.)

The only mentally disturbed here the fools willing to abandon all morality and ethics and defend a man that is a proven liar and flip-flopper.

Defending such a man will cause irreversible harm to the Republican party and conservative movement.

Why would anyone want to vote Republican or become a conservative when the politicians we are supporting are every bit as dishonest as the ones liberals and Democrats support?

And, that sad thing is that you're too stupid to realize Romney would betray conservatives in a heartbeat if he got in office and thought it would be beneficial to him.

The evil that is Obama surges ahead, my worst nightmare. I think he'll be harder to beat than Hillary. He doesn't have a history, he avoids taking a stand and he runs on "feel-good" platitudes (e.g., hope, change, etc.).

I see Carville's minions are active on the site.

Hillary needs to lose the primary. Otherwise the Clintonites stand to gain millions from the general election run.

I’m reluctant to call him “despicable” for these well known concerns. Who do you like, Old Retired Army Guy?

I like Hunter too but at this point I think a vote would be wasted on him. If one of the more liberal Republicans gets the nomination, I’d hoped Hunter would be a balancing factor on the ticket. I just haven’t seen much from Thompson beyond “quips” and think the liberal media would successfully portray him as a befuddled old crank despite the conservative media’s attempt to portray him as Reagan’s second coming. I really do think the electorate in general has moved more to the left and we aren’t going to win a thing if we don’t acknowledge that. Some of that is because we are victims of our own success... except for very minor cases the economy has been excellent for many generations, nobody much worries about terrorism because there hasn’t been any repeat attacks, etc. In general people have had an easy time of it, therefore they look for the candidate who promises the most “goodies”. Hillary’s Christmas ad was obscene but that’s what I fear most people are looking for - who will give me the most for my vote. I fear a candidate who “just says no” to candy won’t get very far. Young folk need to learn some hard lessons and I think this time around they are going to take some risky chances. Sometimes learning the hard way is the best way.

Duncan Hunter, but he has no chance. Next would be Thompson, but I am losing confidence he will still be around after the early primaries. Once I know who is still contending after South Carolina, I will just have to look at them and make a choice, but I can assure you it wont be Romney.

“You are mentally disturbed.”

Yeah, the anti-Romney crowd does seem prone to excess. They may not agree with him, but that doesn’t make him “despicable”.

No, I just believe character matters...and not just for Democratic candidates.

Romney is EVERYTHING Rush Limbaugh and other Republicans correctly stated Bill Clinton was in 1992.

It's not only hypocritical but a party and movement loses all credibility when it gets behind a man that can't tell the truth and believes in nothing.

Oh, he’d definitely be more difficult to beat than Hilary and I think more of the Dems see it. There are two or three nightmare scenarios with him as the Dem candidate. And now, the pollsters, who are actually not actually polling but are actually part of the propaganda machine pushing results, have Obama beating any one of the Republican candidates.

If Obama were to win the presidency, this country would be so divided as to be virtually incapacitated. I’m honestly not sure the “Republic” would survive it.

I fear a President Obama would bring out so much soft racism of lowered expectations that he’d be so far beyond any honest evaluation that things could go downhill really fast before anyone dares to criticize. What would surely be interpreted as “bringing people together” would in reality be fear of speaking truth to a PC media.
