CHICAGO, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- U.S. officials investigating alleged corruption in Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's administration now include the governor in their probe, a report says.

He is accused of being part of a "pay to play" scheme where state contracts were offered in exchange for political favors, the Chicago Tribune reported Sunday.

Bidness as usual in Illinois. I think the Mighty Quinn is readying himself to step up to the plate...

Yeah, but if Blagomilosevic goes, we may get the dual loyalist (served in the military of a foreign nation) Rahm Emanuel as Governor. Then again, even Rahm (deport him now) would probably not be so stupid as to run. Dickl—s Durbin for Governor?

Well, I’m saying if Blago goes, Pat Quinn becomes Governor, and allegedly he’s been accused of having ethics. I know that’s a no-no for a Democrat these days. If he does, they’ll definitely have to take him out. We can’t have ethical Governors in Illinois. It just ain’t fittin’. It ain’t fittin’.

Look at this bit on Rahm... I can’t believe they kept it on Wikipedia...

At this point of his political career he was known for his intensity. Notably, he reportedly told British Prime Minister Tony Blair, “This is important. Don’t f*ck it up,” prior to Blair appearing in public with Clinton for the first time after the Lewinsky scandal emerged.[9] Emanuel is said to have “mailed a rotting fish to a former coworker after the two parted ways.”[8] On the night after the Clinton election, “Emanuel was so angry at the president’s enemies that he stood up at a celebratory dinner with colleagues from the campaign, grabbed a steak knife and began rattling off a list of betrayers, shouting ‘Dead! ... Dead! ... Dead!’ and plunging the knife into the table after every name.”[4] His “take-no-prisoners attitude” earned him the nickname “Rahm-bo”.

He sounds psych-o.

But the rats tolerate the culture of corruption so as to not “buck the system”. You know, it’s just the way things work.

Oh, what I would say to Rahm if I ever encountered him...

I despise him, his predecessor Blago, and Blago's predecessor Rosty...

A politician from Chicago is corrupt.

What else is new.

Any other politicians from Chicago, maybe one with the name “Barrack”, have any bad habits like this?

Cook County as a whole last voted Republican in 1972 (but you knew that already). Even in '84 they vote for Mondale (although the then heavily Slavic/Polish 3rd district went for Reagan).

When I lived in Crook County, I had Bobby Rush, then Blago, then Jan Schakowsky (lived in three nabes). Was an election judge for the '98 election, where I saw firsthand the level of crossover Dem voting for Lyin' Ryan (he even won the 43rd and 44th wards in Chicago, and even got 35% in the 48th where I lived at the time).

Most likely. I remember reading about how Rahm Emmanuel got his start as a bag boy for the Chicago mob. The thing about the Chicago mob, though, is they still take "omerta" very seriously. It's tough to nail them (although the Justice Department did manage to clean out a whole bunch of judges some years ago).

Not to worry - - Patrick Fitzgerald is on the job.

And as we now know, Glenn Poshard turned out to be no gem, either. Man, who was the last respectable person of either major party to win or run for the IL Governorship ?

Ah, yes, Paddy Fitzgerald. He’s still working on the case against Capone and Big Bill Thompson, right ?

Despite the defeat of Judy Baar-Topinka, I don’t see the old school Springfield GOP Mafia going away. They still have alot of power via the collar counties.
