ModernConservative.com has received a tip from a reliable source that may have election-shattering implications.

According to our source, an activist here in Arizona has been approached by the Ron Paul campaign; the campaign has requested that he run the Arizona effort to get Ron Paul on the general election ballot as a candidate of the Constitution Party.

Our source has requested anonymity, and we have agreed. We can, however, vouch for his/her general reliability. Our source also provided us with details that added credibility to the account. (Unfortunately, disclosure of those details would put at risk our promise of anonymity. We apologize for the unnamed sourcing and lack of further details, but those were the requirements that accompanied this revelation.)

We will keep you apprised of any new developments.

There has been a lot of analysis on the impact that Ron Paul has already had, and on the impact that he might...

Curious as to who you'll support in the general? I personally may have to hold my nose and vote for Mit as I think Thompson isn't going anywhere.

I really, really hope it's Thompson. He's not out of this thing. The lack of one clear frontrunner is going to benefit him. That said, I'll vote for any Republican other than Giuliani. I don't like Romney or McCain, but they're OK enough for me to vote for. I'm not a huge Huckabee fan, but I think he's better than the freepers trashing him make him out to be.

This is what kook paul is being paid to do.

Hillary needs a third party to beat a republican that is not Giuliani.

This is very interesting, I had no idea those statutes existed. I found this Minnesota tidbit which discusses it in a little further detail:

Though i’m pretty disgusted with Ron Paul, I could care less how much experience with guns a candidate has. Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney were having a squabble yesterday over how Romney’s barely hunted and Huck hunts all the time.

I agree 100%. I'm the biggest 2nd Amendment advocate I know in real-life, but I have never and will never hunt. It's just not my thing. DISCLAIMER: I have no problem with people who do hunt, as long as they eat what they kill. I'm just a bleeding-heart wuss when it comes to animals and I limit my shooting to the range.

Ohio and California have this statute. I will try to obtain a complete list of states that do.

The constitution party makes a habit of vote splitting apparently.

This is just a ross perot/nader stunt.

Libertarians won’t vote for Huck.

I'm a small-l libertarian and I'd vote for Huckabee. Other than Paul and Hunter, he's the best on the 2nd Amendment. That's big.

Also, I am frighted at the prospect of detention centers being built in this country with no clear intention to the public as to why.

Got a cite for that which doesn't come from a freak-left website? For example, Indymedia claims 130 of these camps have been built adjacent to "major highways and railroad transport facilities" but I have to wonder how you do that without anyone noticing. Note that the article I've linked to describes a seven inch thick portfolio stuffed with supporting evidence, but how many of these supporting documents have made it into the light of day? Why aren't any of these 130 locations listed so we can go look at them for ourselves?

We’ll definitely catch up on the NFL thread this weekend. Looking forward to it. If I don’t end up going to the Jets game, I hope we can real-time freep during these games.

Is that a stunned cow in the background or one that got tipped over?

Thanks for the great laughs every morning and today!

this should be good for the republican candidate as a consensus of Paul haters here say his support comes from left wing

I suspect it may be so, especially as the extremist left is as disgusted with Clinton as most republicans are with Huckles and company. Few true conservatives will waste their vote on Paul but a lot of crank leftists might, just to register their anti-American agenda, as they did with Nader in 2000. That may be the accurate parallel, not Perot.

Hey. How about that. I called him Hillary’s Ross Perot a couple of months ago. Same initials and everything!

No, Afghanistan was justified as that's where OBL was. We should have pursued him wherever we needed to in order to bring him to justice, but the WOT has failed to nail Most Wanted #1.

You know, I'm going to ignore all those little insults you threw at me and stay on task. Can you provide any documentation that use of troops in Iraq has prevented the capture of Osama bin Laden? Why would it be more important to find this one guy than to dismantle terror networks?

Then there's this:

You prove my own point for me (thanks!) - there was more reason to invade any and all of the above than there was Iraq.

Actually, what I've proven is that the nationality of a terrorist has nothing to do with the proper response. The idea of going into Iraq was to prevent attacks, not avenge them. Are you really claiming that Iraq had less of a connection to terrorism that the governments of Great Britain and Marin County?

And let's not forget those questions:
If we had left Saddam in place and a WMD/Nuke attack occurred on an American city, would you have defended Bush for his restraint in refusing to depose Saddam?
If hijackers trained by him had done a repeat of 9/11, would you be praising Bush's restraint?

With me it's more that I've just never gotten into it, but otherwise, ditto.
