"Will Thompson’s talk move voters in Iowa? Does his campaign have the money to get it on the air? Throughout the state? Or even in a few of the most important markets? Beats me. But we have here a serious man, making a serious case—and doing so in the context of a campaign that has otherwise descended into mere caterwauling.
Even at this late hour, I wouldn’t count Fred out."

Hank
Ping for later reading.
If Fred would have cut to the chase on his 17 minute Iowa video and just talked about the challenges facing our national security and laid out his foreign policy resume in under three minutes, then he could have been the Iowa upset surprise. But unfortunately he’s got a bunch of fools for campaign advisors and he rambled on for 8 minutes before even mentioning national security — long after most viewers ended the suffering.

The weather predictions for the Des Moines area Thursday are for clear skies and 20’s temperatures. This means organized efforts by out of stater people to get their people to the caucuses will not encounter poor weather. Poor weather would have left out of state folks stuck off the side of the roads in snow and locals, accustomed to it, getting where they are going.
This probably will have more impact on results than any campaigning between now and Thursday.
Yes, we do. Maybe people will listen. I hope so.
Any indication of size or enthusiasm of crowds on Fred’s bus tour? Can’t seem to find much on Fred anywhere.
The video is great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VblJq4j0_SE
Thompson will be out after NH. He’s running out of money and his heart was never in this campaign. And it’s too bad because he’s probably the best person in the race.
It’s Romney or McCain folks, choose up sides. I will never, ever vote for McCain, he’s stabbed us in the back too many times.
That leaves Romney, a liberal Governor of Taxachusetts as the nominee of the conservative party. Go figure.
Great video, thanks for the link ...
I guess you maxed out your donation to his campaign then?
Inside trader?
“Thompson will be out after NH. He’s running out of money and his heart was never in this campaign. And it’s too bad because he’s probably the best person in the race.”
How do you know that Fred is running out of money? Please explain. I also don’t think Fred would be running if his heart was not in it to serve the country. Many do believe he is the best person in the race because he is the only REAL conservative who has a chance of winning the Republican nomination! Thursday evening we will know the choice of the Iowa voters. I hope the Iowa conservatives pick the best man, Fred Thompson! GO FRED!
Thompson should never have said that his heart wasn’t in politics.
Yes, I’ll concede that it was taken a bit out of context, but it was the last thing a veteran politician should have said in any context, and certainly not Fred with the longstanding criticism of his unenthusiastic campaign.
This is a sales presentation in a business where a person has to build a relationship with many voters. Huckabee and Romney are like mass-marketed products which may or may not prove serviceable. Fred respects his market. Let us see if they are worthy of that respect; not that they necessarily vote for Fred, but that they start thinking longer-term about what is going on.
Thanks Hank, Green Acres is a good show.
Myself, I like Fred, especially that he doesn’t like campaigning.
Besides....

That seems a bit tortured to me.
The formula is really not that complicated.
People want a nominee they can tout in the general election as the most deserving of the office, and the most important factor in that is having the right background and being highly qualified in matters important to national policy.
Fred is, but he has been downplaying his qualifications.
The end result is people either never find out about them, or they get the impression from Fred that he doesn’t have a lot of confidence in his own experience. I think that after people vote for the wrong guy and then they learn about Fred’s resume afterwards, they will be angry and say “why didn’t he tell us about this?”
i hope something IS up.
Fred is presidential. He has the potential to be the best president since Reagan.
