Tailgate stickers
me

Posted on 01/02/2008 7:15:50 AM PST by chrisser

I've never been all that into bumper stickers, but I've been thinking of getting a couple of Thompson stickers.

Anyhow, I drive a FS pickup, and I suspect a lot of FReepers do too. Recently, I saw one of those "wrapped" cars - a vehicle with advertising wrapped all over it. I think it was for an energy drink or something.

I put the two together in my brain. Was wondering if a tailgate-sized political bumper sticker would be cost-effective, especially once we get down to one or two candidates.

The only downside I can find would be the cost, but there are a lot of upsides:

- Conservatives tend to own vehicles with tailgates compared to liberals. Can't fit much copy on the back of a Prius/Pius compared to the tailgate of a F150.

- Tailgates have lots of space for both slogans and some detailed arguments. Can probably fit a much info as a billboard and the audience will be typically be in front of that copy for at least a minute or two.

- While bumper stickers are generally ignored, its difficult to ignore a full-color tailgate if you're the guy behind the pickup.

I'm not in a position to do something like this, but I thought I'd toss the idea out there for consideration. I have a FS Sierra - if someone wants to run with this for Thompson or Hunter, I'd sure be interested in donating the space at the back of my truck.

Ideally, if one of the candidates could put out something like this and we could buy it, I'd sure be interested.

Don’t park in a liberal infested area. They’ll wreck your truck.

If you do this, be prepared for key scratches, dents and whatever else those fair-minded, inclusive liberals can think of.

There is another downside--cowardly libs who are not above "keying" a vehicle whose owner hasn't drunk from the left-wing Koolaid.

I don’t put on bumper stickers but I did get an ASU Three-peat sticker for my car.

I remember back in the 60’s when my sister and I were sharing a car. She was into the hippy movement. You know the long granny dresses and flower in your hair bs.

One morning I went out to get into our shared car to go to work and all over it were flowers, the bathtub floor kind. OMG, I was mad. Made her take everyone of those things off. I couldn’t believe I had to drive through town and to work with that. It was just so tacky.

Yeah, in NJ, the only conservative sticker that you can safely put on your car is an NRA sticker. Anything else just gets your car “keyed”.

I still like the Hillary Clinton sticker, “Run Hillary Run” for the front bumper.

I would not use stickers here in the People’s Socialist Republic of Illinois. Too many radical wacked-out Democrats around to vandalize the car.

Having your car wrapped is not all that expensive, I used to work for a sign shop that did that. Small vynal stickers on your car could be a very cool way to express your political wishes and it might draw the ire of some malcontents who disagree with you.

Real Americans are angered that the successful housing market has tanked, and crude oil has doubled since the dims regained power in Congress.

All the warm fuzzy muzzling of hopefuls via the drive-by media is not keeping great Americans from being Americans.

Been done, kinda. There are advertisements you can get that pay you to put these “wrap” ads on your car or truck for a period of time.......

I think it’s a great idea, I’d put one on my vehicle but with so many libs in this sate I’m afraid it would get keyed or worse.

I’ve heard that a “Harley-Davidson” window decal is an effective crime deterrant as well.

Was just down at a Bowl tailgating and saw a full tailgate Ron Paul job, it was the reusable contact vinyl for use on auto paint type, looked OK from a distance. That costs about $20 a foot, so a full size would cost like $90.

If you use any type of photo or images, the print shop will tell you exact specs to make sure the result isn’t grainy. You will need HUGE high quality photo and image files to do a full tailgate banner. Using just rasterized text will be much easier.
