Low-Key Thompson Stumbles Toward Finish Line
ABC ^ | 1/2/08 | Rick Klein

Two days before the Iowa caucuses — day 15 of his 17-day "hands down" bus tour — former senator Fred Thompson's campaign bus stood motionless in the snowy parking lot of a West Des Moines motel, across from a movie theater and a suburban strip mall.

Thompson's campaign scheduled only one event for New Year's Day, a meet-and-greet at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, about an hour outside Des Moines. Thompson, R-Tenn., shunned the bus, emblazoned with his picture, for the relative comfort of a black Chevrolet Suburban.

(snip)

Thompson has staked his campaign's prospects to Iowa. In seeking to jump-start his campaign last month, he promised to crisscross the Hawkeye State with visits to 50 cities and towns in 17 days aboard his new campaign bus.

I’m not grasping on to straws. There’s a big difference from 1% and 13%. One could happen (rough likelyhood), and the other is nearly impossible.

So you are like me, hoping for the best. Might not get it, though.

I was practicing autorotations today. It’s when you remove engine power to your main rotor (in a helicopter). Flying a helicopter is about being practical and doing what’s necessary to fly. If you lose RPM’s on your main rotor past 80%, you’re probably dead...if your 97% and above...your likely going to survive.

You my friend are hoping for 80%, and shunning 96%. That’s the kind of pilot I wouldn’t want to fly with.

Pissant, I fear your days on FR are numbered...I tried to warn you but you don’t care what anyone else thinks.

After reading this thread this far, YOU have made MANY enemies who have long memories. It really is too bad, because your conservative views are admirable!

Well, that’s the way the cookie crumbles I reckon. You’ll thank me later.

Gee, thanks for the VERY timely heads-up on Jeri appearing on Greta's show. I dashed to the TV and tuned in just in time to hear Greta's introduction.

Jeri did fantastically well. Poised, assured, articulate, positive, beautiful, classy and dressed in womens' clothes.

What a superb first lady she will make. A million time more so than Bubba.

And she comes from the Illinois town next to mine....rock-ribbed, mid-America, heartland GOP territory.

Go, Jeri......we know you don't need any silverware.

No, that’s not the case. No one had to give “equal time” when Reagan’s old movies or Arnold’s old movies ran.

All you have to do is read FR-—which generates NO original posting at all, but posts NEWS, and you’ll see a dozen hit pieces a day on Rudy. Plain fact. If he’s not being slimed-—and I’m not saying some of these stories aren’t true-—then who is publishing all this stuff? It sure isn’t coming from the Am. Spectator or the Am. Thinker.

All that is true and I like Fred. He was my guy back last spring.

But he still has to act as though he is 100% interested in being president so that he generates some enthusiam. And learn talk without every third sound being umm or err. He might as well be saying ‘you know’ five times in a sentence.
