They should have been able to announce that by now. Every other top polling candidate has a rep there

I'm not there so I wouldn't know. Maybe they have. I don't know who the "pending" speakers are.

“Marxists love Marxists!”

Absolutely. The fairest tax is when everybody pays the same tax. Dollar for dollar.

Where is Freds personality ?

I want to see him get fired up and have some passion. If he could show me some passion, I would vote for him.

“Huckabee has an awesome personality. I think people are still underestimating him.”

He has a fine personality, but his positions and rather obvious lack of intelligence are weaknesses.

“and he wants to shut down the IRS. Thats a winner.”

I agree with you that it’s a good idea. However, it can’t happen without repealing the 14th Amendment, or we might end up with the Fair Tax AND an Income Tax. Modifying the Constitution is a non-starter for the foreseeable future, due to the balance of power in Congress. Perhaps Fred’s idea of an optional flat tax is a reasonable starting point.

Wasn’t it a Fulbright scholarship? And didn’t it get cancelled after he was arrested for sexual assault at Oxford?

I’m caucusing in what is being called a “bellweather” county in NW Iowa. I’ll predict Huckabee is going to do very well tonight. His critics have singed every hair on his fanny and he’s still doing very well. Both Huckabee and Obama are going to win big because folks out here are fed up with the status quo. You can all argue whether they represent that change or not. I will say, as a long time member of FR, the level of discourse has really dropped during this election.

So, I guess I’m a leftist/pinko/marxist/commie who is going to support Huckabee.

So be it.

Sorry, but he wouldn’t. He has no experience in this area whatsoever. Sending his “apologies” to Pakistan? That’s a rookie play.

The irony would be in seeing the Dems absolutely destroy a Bill Clinton/Jimmy Carter clone in the general.

“I look at the bigger picture. I dont want to vote based on fiscal conservatism alone or social conservatism alone. Huckabee is strong against terrorism. he wants to finish the job in Iraq. He wants to get rid of the IRS. He is a family man.”

I agree with you, but 95% of those here on FR will not agree, so don’t let it get you down. I think Mike will win tonight over Romney by as much as 2-5% (I wished it was >10%, but don’t think that realistic). IF this happens I think it will guarantee him a position as VP to McCain who I think will ultimately win the GOP nod on Super Tuesday. That will set him up to be president someday.

I’m sure you’re none of those things, just befuddled. ;-)

He has passion about this country. Get a nice drink and set aside 17 minutes and watch his speech to the voters. I head a tear in my eye at the end. It's who we want for President, really. http://www.fred08.com/

Mike Huckabee’s own words:

“The United States, as the world’s only superpower, is less vulnerable to military defeat. But it is more vulnerable to the animosity of other countries. Much like a top high school student, if it is modest about its abilities and achievements, if it is generous in helping others, it is loved. But if it attempts to dominate others, it is despised.

American foreign policy needs to change its tone and attitude, open up, and reach out. The Bush administration’s arrogant bunker mentality has been counterproductive at home and abroad.”

He is saying, in the first paragraph, that we were not generous enough to the world, therefore it is OUR fault that they hate us,attacked us and still want to attack us!
STRONG ON FOREIGN POLICY?????

The first thing I want is a strong military, National Security, foreign Affairs person.
The Huckester has no clue on any of the above.

I live 20 miles north of the largest and busiest border crossing in the world and my city has tens of thousands of illegals costing us tax payers in San Diego maga millions a yeaar supporting them.

The Huckester wants to give them free tuition. and is soft on illegals period.

I live in a large city with a huge amount of military.
Trust me, there is no one I know here in California who would give the Huckester the time of day and that includes the conservatives I know including me.
