You have more than two years seniority over me as a Freeper so I will acquiesce to your request—for now.
Best.

Possibly but, I doubt it.Romney is worried about Thompson as he is the only top tier conservative in the race and South Carolina aint that far off.

There isn’t going to be any good way of getting gas into an area that’s been hit by a hurricane, and no time to “let the market work”. You are dealing with a disaster, not an all the time in the world situation to let the market fix the situation. How ridiculous.

You neither understand nor appreciate the forces of supply and demand. They're real and they work. Until the additional supply arrives, the "gouging" price will convince people to buy only as much as they truly need. And, believe it or not, those who cannot afford what they need will be helped by others with the means to help them. That's how "immoral" people (capitalist pigs) like us operate in a disaster. On the other hand, I can see people of your ilk filling your tanks with as much cheap gas as you can get, and driving past the needy after maybe slowing down long enough to assure them the government will be along soon to help.

Someone (xzins, I think) already explained to you how it plays out if the retailers were forced to keep prices at pre-hurricane levels. If you're not completely willful in your ignorance, and if your emotions aren't preventing your understanding, go back and read it.

Oh, and I just asked my lovely young wife whether it's immoral for gas stations to jack up their prices when a hurricane hits and people need gas to get out of town. She passed the test with flying colors. Beauty, brains, and conservative values ... Needless to say, I am truly blessed.

I'm no Ayn Rand fan. "Hopeless"? You're a hopeless Nanny Statist.

Hmmm, a geezer with a lovely young wife. I’m sure she’s very docile and agrees with everything you say. Or, you married someone just like you. You will sell our country out one day when your god is the almighty dollar at the expense of it.

LOL. You couldn't be further from the truth. My God is the Almighty Creator and Redeemer.

Christian values and capitalism are completely compatible.

Keep going Fred.

BTW, where was the media coverage for Fred Thompson tonight.

Missing in Action as far as I could tell.

I’m old enough to remember when the Fed froze the price of gasoline because of the oil embargo in the Nixonian years.

Since the gas stations had to sell at X price, they simply didn’t work hard at getting their tanks refilled or opening on time or whatever they could think of. Why would they sell gas when it wasn’t making them any money.

So, when the pumps were filled there were lines of cars around the block waiting to get to refilled.

It was insane denial of the power of the free market by a republican president, who incidentally, was a Rino Republican and probably a good friend of Romney’s dad, George.
