It's over, Charles. Romney outspent Huckabee 15-1 in Iowa and lost. New Hampshire is in his own political backyard and lost. He is toast. Why? Because voters know he is say-anything-lying-flip-flopping phony.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself for supporting a man that has been the enemy of the values you claim to hold.

“Media are out to break up conservatives, dispirit us, destroy us, destroy the Republican coalition of the evangelicals; the social and fiscal conservatives; they’re out to destroy that.
They want to destroy that by getting McCain or Huckabee nominated.”

Just as many on FR are trying to do knowingly or not. But I guess since Rush likes both Fred and Mitt he is also no longer a true conservative.

"If this party comes up with either Huckabee or McCain, I’m gone."

I get to agree with you on that.

But then again, I get to agree with anybody on these sorts of things because here in Massachusetts my vote don't count unless they change the method of Electoral College tally here.

No Republican nominee since Iowa became prominent in the election process (1976) has failed to win either New Hampshire or Iowa.

Didn't McCain beat George W. in NH in 2000? Then Bush went on to trounce him in SC. The Iowa winners have gone on to be the nominee more times than not, but not all the time. NH hasn't, in the last few election cycles. That's why I no longer consider either to be a bellwether state.

According to a site someone linked on another thread, McCain has 9 delegates, and Fred has 6. So why all the hoopla just about McCain?

Romney got 3 times more votes tan Huckabee in NH! Iowa apparently was a fluke.

Just what we need for a change.

I don’t want to get with “them” any more.

Good point! I have yet to read any criticism of Romney by Rush....Only comments that, while not endorsements, are very favorable.

Iowa was Huckabee’s backyard, and New Hampshire is like McCain’s home.

Further, being the governor of “next door” really is a meaningless feature in the modern era of 24 hour cable.

All that gives you is name recognition. Once you have that, you have to get people to vote for you.

Romney is doing OK, but not well enough. He can’t win if he doesn’t take first in a couple of big places.

But if coming in 6th was a great thing if you simply don’t compete, everybody would skip the first 3 contests.

Unfortunately, in the real world if you skip two of the first three contests, and only compete in the third for a few weeks after previously resolving to skip that one, you risk being labeled as a non-competitor.

I hope the strategy works, especially if Romney simply cannot get traction, because we need a conservative.

But frankly, I’m simply dissappointed, because I’d rather have a person who was simply RUNNING for president, rather than playing a strategic game to squeak through.

Right, Bush won Iowa, lost to McCain in New Hampshire and than trounced him in SC. Sounds like a game plan for Huckabee.

Face it, Willard is a phony and a loser and he is done. Move on.

Too bad he favors abortionist kicking the asses of the unborn or he might actually have a chance of winning something.

Huckabee didn’t follow up very well in Wy and NH!

Romney has more delegates than Huckabee. So, if we are naming a loser, it would have to be Huckabee. Reality hurts, doesn’t it!

Nope! Fred did not campaign there at all. He went for the debates and of course, talked to people while there, but he told an interviewer for (Fox?, I think) that he was not campaigning in NH. Most of NH had already made up its mind.

I wish more candidates would ignore NH.

My son in law said he was voting for H.Clinton. Think he was pulling my chain, but even if he wasn't--he probably voted for Mitt.

"When Ron Paul pulls 8 percent vs Thompson’s 1 percent, I want nothing to do with NH or NE."

I haven't followed this as closely as I should have. Who campaigned more effectively? Was Thompson even campaigning up there?

Great research. Too many posts on here are just zingers or . . . zingers. You actually provide some facts, and that is what I like to see on this site.

Huckabee didn’t follow up very well in Wy and NH!

He has a 13-point lead (RCP average) in SC. Whoever wins SC will be the nominee.
