Tom DeLay Disses McCain, Calls New Hampshire Win ‘A Blip’
Fox News ^ | January 9, 2008 | Chad Pergram

John McCain’s win in New Hampshire did not impress former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. Revealing a divide in the Republican Party between moderates and conservatives, DeLay slammed McCain in an interview Wednesday with FOX News. “There’s nothing redeeming about John McCain,” DeLay said. The Texas Republican added that McCain “does betray conservative principles.” When asked on which issues McCain was not a conservative, he said: “Mercy, there’s tons of them” and proceeded to list the Senator’s positions on the environment, immigration, the International Criminal Court, his support for affirmative action and taxes. He also called McCain a “hypocrite” when it came to lobbyists.

. . . .When asked about the divisions in the party between moderates and conservatives, DeLay said “I don’t think there’s a schism in the party. The party doesn’t exist. It’s rebuilding.” (Sad but true. The Federal GOP is a mess. – FlA)

I think delay nailed it.

Also keep in mind, in FL DEMOCRATS HAVE NO PRIMARY DELEGATES.

This means a whole class of democrats can change parties to vote for whichever republican is the kookiest.

Ronpaul is even running radio ads in various markets down here.

Essentially the “blue zones” are kook paul country.

Is there any way we can get to the convention and get somebody that's not in play now? We are in deep doo doo. I'll vote for Thompson but doesn't look like he's going for it 100%.

Such a shame a really likeable favorite isn't out there running now - I do think the convention with the more conservative attendees could pick a good one and opt for none that are running right now! Please, I need some hope?

“There’s nothing redeeming about John McCain,” DeLay said. The Texas Republican added that McCain “does betray conservative principles.”

I am glad a real conservative is hitting McCain hard. McCain needs to be repudiated and humiliated by real conservatives. McCain absolutely despises conservatives. If McCain had any decency at all, he would run on the Demo ticket. He is the enemy of all who love Liberty and our Constitution.

I'll vote for Thompson but doesn't look like he's going for it 100%.

Based on what set of observations and/or facts did you come to that conclusion?

Obama’s a Luo? Speaking of them, there was an article earlier this week about the Luos ... some fighting going on in Africa where a church full of people was set on fire and anyone who managed to escape was gunned down by a mob. I’ll see if I can find it.

But if we can coalesce around Romney, we may be able to govern and rebuild at the same time

That's it. If Fred falters in SC, it will be time to rally behind Romney as the least objectionable of the viable candidates. The alternatives are too depressing to think about

"I'll vote for Thompson but doesn't look like he's going for it 100%"

Thompson's "fault" is that he wants to explain what the current situation is and then what he would do to correct it. The MSM doesn't want to pay attention to him that long; they would rather get a few sentences, a quip, a short anecdote ar a sound-bite or two and be on their way to happy hour.

So, they imply he is "tired" and "lazy" and "uncommitted".

former Majority Leader Tom DeLay

Reminds me that he took our majority and made it into a former majority.

We win when security conservatives, economic conservatives and social conservatives work together (like, Gingrich, Armey and DeLay did). Not when one faction pushes out the other two, and relies on the pork barrel to re-elect incumbents.
