We’ve already got fingerprints. I don’t see why we need an ID.

Scan the fingerprint, and check the face against the database record that pops up onscreen. They can do that as easily and more securely than checking the data on a card against the face.

Why not barcode the area you sit on?

The size of a US passport makes it cumbersome to carry around. Besides, carrying a passport at all times poses a greater risk for loss and/or theft. I hope you’ll never experience the problems when losing your passport while overseas on a business trip.

Without one of the new IDs you will be unable to board a plane after 2014 if you are under 50.

But then you'll have to prove you're under 50. Whuich means you'll also have to carry your Birth Certificate.

How about the states that demand driver ID's for VOTING. The Feds gonna clean that up too, since they are intimately linked?

Knowing Chertoff, I'm sure they've worked out a system that will let them keep track of citizens and their activities, while giving dead people and illegal aliens the right to vote or work without having to pay taxes.

Many Americans object to the government forcing them to carry a national identification card, like many other countries do.

That's because this used to be free country and there was a reason why we left Europe. Many Americans object to the government forcing them to do a lot of things.

Why does an American citizen need to prove they're supposed to be here, rather than those who are not citizens?
