He carried the overall vote in Blanco County by 80-20% in 1964 where Johnson City is located. He did however lose 2 counties in the neighboring area to Goldwater (some of the residual Republicanism of the German Texas Hill Country) and overall lost a smattering of other counties, but carried the state fairly handily.
1964 Presidential Race (Red/Democrat; Blue/GOP)
(*note LBJ's county is the dark red county just touching the NE edge of tiny blue county on the map in central TX)

Wilson was born in Staunton, VirginiaHe was definitely the worst of Virginia's eight Presidents. Wilson is credited with federalizing segregation.
(btw, I grew up 10 miles from Staunton)

Kennedy lost his “hometown” of Hyannis/Hyannis port in 1960. See the description in Teddy White’s “making of the President 1960” I beleive he voted in Back Bay of Boston, however, which he carried.

Isnt Ron Paul from LoopyLand? Paul represents a district centered on Victoria, TX. He won't win his district or its major city in the presidential primary.
