The tragedy of this whole issue is that it has been politicized. On one level Al Gore’s movie contains partisan criticism of the Bush Administration, along with skewed facts. On a larger scale is the U.N.’s program to lift blame for Third World misery from corrupt dictators and lay it at the door of the developed nations. The news media—who feed on chaos and fear—accept as gospel any single-source scientific conclusion from “experts” as long as it points to a gloomy future.

I think the average person, confronted by real problems in his everyday life, is beginning to tune out all this propaganda.

Check out this graph of avg temp readings vs qty of temp stations

Does this mean they had 1990's budget cuts and kept the cheapest temp stations....ie the ones closest to university parking lots?

Good for them. Texas had the coolest wettest summer recorded in about 35 years.

You noticed that bit of prejudice at Accuweather also, didn’t you?

Crap, you mean Accuweather is on the AGW bandwagon too?

Now where do I go for on-line weather?

What’s that last line mean? “Global land surface temperature was the warmest on record.”

Here's the data behind the graph-

Well, we’re making up for it already in early 2008. 3 inches of snow on the ground here outside of Atlanta and it hasn’t snowed this much here since 2001.

And sometime back in 2004 we had the coldest day here in Atlanta history!

Congratulations, you win the prize.

Also, 2007 was the tenth warmest on record for the contiguous U.S..

This can also be stated as this was the coldest year of the last decade.

If you want to be cute, the coldest year of the century (seeing as there are only 8 years in the current century).

Your pulling my leg. A cold year you say?

Next you will be trying to tell me that is snowed in Buenes Aires this year for the big global warming day.

And that it even snowed in Saudi Arabia for the first time in memory.

I believe the weather balloons and other upper atmosphere monitoring devices didn’t show any record increases. Clever of them to not mention that, huh? -especially when many of the surface stations are in urban “heat islands”.

The Earth is several billion years old. "Records" go back only a couple hundred years. Accurate records go back 50? years. The last 50 years out of four billion ... yeah, that makes it easy to spot a trend.

I wish there was a push to increase funding for accurately measuring the earths temperature. I suspect that stuff vastly beyond our control causes the massive shifts in the earths weather (ie. ice ages), but it wouldn't hurt to get a better read on this. I don't want to accelerate a coming ice age nor to turn Earth into a desert planet. The records we have are poor and it is clear that the data we are recording RIGHT NOW in the 21st century are in many cases tainted. Before spending trillions on fixing a problem that may not even exist, why aren't we budgeting more money to make the measurements?

Or does that sound too reasonable?

NEW TEMP RECORD SET!

Proof Of Global Warming!

It has been reported from a usually reliable source that a new record high land surface record was recorded last August at the monitoring station located on the south side of the blacktop parking lot next to the air conditioner at Al Gore's North Carolina Estate.

This occured shortly before the air conditioner unit seized up and exploded, ripping the back wall off the home.

Fortunately no-one was home at the time except the now deceased illegal immigrant caretaker as the Gore familiy was flying around the world in their private Boeing 747 bringing their "Fight Global Warming World Tour" to 153 countries.

How come the graph in the 1975 article doesn’t agree with the graphs in post 23? According to the 1975 graph, the temperatures in 1970 were approximately equal to those in 1910. But the later graphs show the temperatures in 1970 to be much higher. How can this possibly be?

2007 was 5th Warmest on Record Globally

Is that a real record or a Hansen-enhanced record?
