NOTE: there was a much better headline from another source, but we are not allowed to use that because of copyright complaint - "Nepal to watch Hillary funeral via link"

Queen Elizabeth snubs Hillary funeral: Report
Wellington - Queen Elizabeth will not send a member of the British royal family to the funeral of Everest conqueror Sir Edmund Hillary next week - a decision dubbed a snub to one of New Zealand's greatest legends on a newspaper website on Friday. The New Zealand Herald said a Buckingham Palace spokeswoman had told the paper the Queen would be represented by Governor General Anand Satyanand at Tuesday's funeral in Auckland.
"The Governor General is the Queen's personal representative," the spokeswoman said.
The paper published the story on its website under the headline "Royal Family Snubs Sir Ed."
It noted that Hillary was one of only 24 Knights of the Garter appointed by the Queen. His success as the first man to step on the summit of Mount Everest was proclaimed on the morning of her coronation in 1953.
"The Everest expedition was a British one, and Hillary's success was claimed as a huge triumph for Britain," the paper said.
Television New Zealand announced Friday that it had offered its live broadcast of the funeral free of charge to international radio and tv broadcasters and agencies and arranged a satellite link to Nepal so that it could be screened there.
Chief Executive Rick Ellis said the decision to make the broadcast available without charge was recognition of the unique position Sir Edmund held in the eyes of the world.
Organisations that have requested access to the TVNZ coverage so far include BBC, CNN, the European Broadcasting Union, Al Jazeera, APTN and a number of channels in Australia.
Doug, the next time you sign up at “Hillary For President”, I think you should register as “Sig R. Dildeaux”.
Hey, be my guest. Others can share in the fun.
LOL! That’s a head worth saving.
The issue includes not sending a representative.
She must of seen her latest poll numbers...
I’m buying the keg!
Oh, wait. Damn.
My first thought when reading the article was, you mean the FIRST WHITE MAN.
Dream on!!!!!!
Its more likely she will kill Bill if she loses.
I recall reading somewhere that an earlier expedition was supposed to have made it to the summit but died on the return trip.
George Leigh Mallory is thought by some to have reached the summit. His body was recently discovered but his journal either was not found, or did not confirm that he had succeeded. If you google him, you discover some interesting things.
Ah yes, that’s correct isn’t it, the tenth anniversary of the Global enlightenment of Monica Lewinsky as the aspirant aspirator of the benevolent bent one.
No further comment. It all seems to lead to dangerous turf.
It was held in the phone booth across the street from her Washington home.
Are you suggesting HRC should have been named after George Leigh Mallory. Hmmm. She would be Mallory Rodham Clinton. I kind of like it.
Thanks for that information.
And you can bet, her journal will not reveal the truth either.
Good job. Will Hillary be in attendance at the funeral of the man for whom she was named or will she and Bill snub it too?
That statement is false. Hillary's Sherpa guide, Tinsang Norgay(?) was the fist to summit. Hillary always acknowledged this.
No, Hillary confirmed that he reached the summit first.
In his 1999 book "View from the Summit," Hillary finally broke his long public silence about whether it was he or Tenzing who was the first man to step atop Everest. "We drew closer together as Tenzing brought in the slack on the rope. I continued cutting a line of steps upwards." "Next moment, I had moved onto a flattish exposed area of snow with nothing by space in every direction," Hillary wrote. "Tenzing quickly joined me and we looked round in wonder. To our immense satisfaction we realized with had reached the top of the world." Before Tenzing's death in 1986, Hillary consistently refused to confirm he was first, saying he and the Sherpa had climbed as a team to the top. It was a measure of his personal modesty and of his commitment to his colleagues.
