Fred has an important job to do still. He must keep the nomination far out of reach of Mike Huckabee. And he must bring the party together as the consensus conservative choice when no candidate comes up with enough delegates to win the nomination.
Keep on fighting Fred!
I sent a second contribution to Fred's campaign tonight. Whether or not Fred stays in the race... I got to put my money where my heart is.
The campaign needs to retool. Got to figure out how to break Huck’s hold over the churches, and he’s going to have to enlist Giuliani and Romney as de facto allies. And everyone needs to pound McCain.
I agree.
In spite of what a lot of people around here think, I do believe that only McCain will be able to get enough independent and swing votes to BEAT HILLARY.
Huckabee sure as hell can't do it. Neither can Mitt and I'm not sure about Rudy.
The mere thought of Bill Clinton living in the White House again is disgusting and depressing.
Of course, if Obama beats Hillary, then it all over as no Republican will beat him. But at least Bill won't be in the White House again.
Corner square on Hollywood Squares?
History is not a SIMPLE guide!
It must be interpreted as somethings changed in the world,in US society, and on the political stage.
Then many parameters have to be taken into account to understand correctly the teachings of History.
How many and what kind of candidates were there in the 2000 primary elections on the Republican side?....As an example
I just heard that Fred won Nevada!
I agree. Fred should stay in even if he has no chance of winning. He should be a voice, and a group of bargaining delegates, at the convention.
Im still for Fred. However; if he stays in the race, he needs to consult with the likes of Haley Barbour or Ed Gillespie for ideas to turn this around. Freds been running his campaign from the back of the bus. In this day and age, thats not going to cut it. He has to organize a grassroots army to go house-to-house, to man phone banks, to blanket neighborhoods with literature, etc. Ed Gillespie and Ken Mehlman (for that matter) understood this and helped propel W to victory in 2000 and 2004. W wouldnt have won either election without the well-organized, grassroots machine he had. Ed, Ken, and (Rove) had every house in every precinct on a BlackBerry and had a strategy to reach the people in that house.
Fred’s TV spots and a few bus stops weren’t enough to carry the day in South Carolina, nor will they be in any other state. The MSM is marginalizing Fred. All the more reason he needs a strong grassroots effort. Again, this takes organization.
I’m ready to sign up for a PITCHFORK REVOLUTION under the slogan TURN IT OFF (meaning the MSM). Their polls, projections, and pandering be damned. I’m not ready to give my country over to those who will destroy it. As Mark Levin says, we must push back the liberal hordes.
He ran one of the poorest national campaigns I have ever seen, given that he was supposed to be Reagan’s heir.
Just terrible.
“This is a gun show he just attended, if he can’t get votes from this crowd, in this state which is probably the most conservative state in the union probably, then his message just probably won’t play anywhere else,” said Baker.
I think their vote of McCain & Huckabee today clearly disspelled that honor (most conservative state in the union).
I’m seriously down...how are we going to stop McCain from rolling now? The votes of the american people have disappointed me.
Don’t stop now, Fred, we just lost Hunter.
Thomspon is our last chance for a conservative to make it.
So what your saying is if Fred can’t win, then he should make sure that 1 of the 2 Super RINO’S does?
Dittos.
I agree that Fred needs to keep up the fight! This race is still wide open and most folks are just now looking at the candidates because they don’t vot until Super Tuesday. I know Guiliani has his hopes set here in Florida, but he just might not pull it off. I also believe that McCain’s win in South Carolina will fade away soon. I am with Fred all the way, and hope he is going all the way too! GO FRED!
He should suspend his campaign, wait for Huckabee to get knocked out of the race, then re-enter as the great conservative hope.
It’s not as weird as it seems at first glance.
(1) SC is strong evidence that the Republican party is not particularly conservative anymore. True conservatives are probably < 15% of the population.
(2) SC is strong evidence that most primary voters still form their impression of candidates from the MSM. The number that go to conservatives websites and blogs is tiny. So — when the MSM “blacks out” coverage of candidates like Fred — and portray him negatively — that has an effect.
“Change” is going to win the presidency. Hillary would beat McCain as a long time insider. Only Romney can out-debate and beat Hillary when it comes to change. He is more of an outsider than Hillary and many of Hillary’s supporters would turn into mittens.
If SC is the "most conservative" state in the union, how in the heck did McLame get so many votes?
