Thanks for the ping. You must realize by now that you, me, or proponents of the fair tax are NEVER going to convert the anti-free tax people here at FR don't you?

Lets just get the talking points out in front here.

It's 30% not 23%!
I already paid taxes on my savings!
It will just cause a black market!
The Prebate is just stupid! (I agree with this one).
The IRS will never go away!

Please feel free to add your own. ;-)

Know what I would like to have happen?

Give people a choice to either select to stay in the present tax system, or, select to pay under the fair tax system. At the cash register you could have a tax number, much like the farmers do now, and then give them your tax number and those that do pay under a fair tax system. If you select to stay under the marxist system like a lot of these so called “Conservatives” on here do, then, you do not get a tax number and you pay under the present system.

I wonder how long before they’d start whinning that we who pay under the fair tax system dont pay our fair share. You see..thay actually are rinos and are not freemen.

Don't forget:

It will cause instant inflation of 30%.

It is communist.

It doesn't shrink the size of government. (Dude, we know.)

It will never be passed.

Enforcement will be an even bigger nightmare.

I think you've covered it, Don Quixote. You may return to tilting at tax windmills now.

OK. How about these talking points?:

We need to make everyone painfully aware of the cost of government by:

Increased take home pay.
More "spendable income"
Prices about the same as now including the tax.
More money for tax free savings.
Easier to purchase a house.
Lower interest rates.
A government check in the mail or automatic deposit every month.
Painful stuff alright.

How much will state and local taxes add? State income tax is 50% of my Federal tax bill — and that doesn’t count property tax and the current sales tax.

Let’s assume that the current 5.5% sales tax stays, then they would have to add another 15% levy to cover uncollected income taxes and the property tax. Is there going to be another 20.5% on top of the 30% Federal tax?

How about:

Lowers the tax burden for most taxpayers.
Allows you to not file any income reports to the IRS (in fact, eliminates the IRS).
Makes the tax payer to be presumed innocent (period) rather than guilty until he proves he's innocent with the IT.
Raises your purchasing power.
Includes those not presently paying tax in the tax rolls (the underground economy).
Allows border-adjustable taxes of exporters to make US products more competitive.
Makes the US the world's largest tax haven.

... and that's just for starters.
