Psalms 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Psalms 91:2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."

Psalms 91:3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.

Psalms 91:4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

Psalms 91:5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day,

Psalms 91:6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

Psalms 91:7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.

Psalms 91:8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.

Psalms 91:9 Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place,

Psalms 91:10 No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;

Psalms 91:11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.

Psalms 91:12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

Psalms 91:13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

Psalms 91:14 "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

Psalms 91:15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.

Psalms 91:16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation." (NKJV)

DEAR LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR THIS DAY, THIS HOUR AND THIS SECOND.

LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR THIS TIME YOUR SAINTS CAN GATHER BEFORE YOUR THRONE OF GRACE WITH PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION.

LORD, WE PRAY FOR ALL OF YOUR SAINTS NO MATTER WHERE THEY MAY BE OR WHATEVER THEIR NEED.

LORD, WE PRAY ESPECIALLY FOR GEORGE WALKER BUSH, LAURA BUSH, BARBARA AND JENNA BUSH, THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH AND ALL MEMMBERS OF GOVERNMENT WHO HOLD YOUR TRUTHS CLOSE TO THEIR HEARTS.

LORD, WE PRAY FOR YOUR CONTINUED HAND OF GUIDANCE AND PROTECTION IN EACH ONES LIFE.

LORD, WE PRAY EACH BELIEVER LOCKS INTO THEIR HEART THE FACT THAT YOU ARE GOD AND TOTALLY SOVEREIGN, WE PRAY THEY JUST LET YOU BE YOU AND STOP BOXING IN YOUR EMINENCE.

LORD, WE PRAY ALL CHRISTIAN PATRIOTS CHOOSE THE RIGHTER WRONG AND HAVE A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF HOW YOU WOULD LIKE THE BETTER GOOD IN AUTHORITY, NOT VOTE BASED ON SINGLE ISSUES, THOUGH TEMPER THEIR THOUGHTS THROUGH THE FILTER OF YOUR WHOLE WORD.

LORD, WE PRAY FOR THIS COUNTRY, A LAND FORMED ON THE PRINCIPALS YOU GAVE US. WE PRAY FOR A RETURN TO A TIME WHEN THIS LAND WAS BASED ON GOD, DUTY AND HONOR.

LORD, WE PRAY FOR YOUR SOVEREIGN HAND OF PROTECTION AGAINST ALL WHO THREATEN OUR LAND.

WE PRAY THAT THE DECEPTIVE LIES OF POLITICAL DESPOTS AND THE MEDIA WILL FALL ON DEAF EARS AND ONLY YOUR TRUTH WILL BE HEARD.

LORD, WE PRAY FOR ALL OF THE DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM, WHETHER HOME OR IN FOREIGN LANDS.

WE PRAY FOR THEIR SAFETY AND WE PRAY FOR COMFORT FOR THEIR FAMILIES AND WE THANK YOU FOR THEIR STRENGTH AND COURAGE IN STAYING THE COURSE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.

LORD, WE PRAY FOR THE COMFORT OF THE FAMILIES OF ALL OF YOUR DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM WHICH WHERE LOST IN BATTLE.

LORD, WE PRAY YOUR VENGENCE IS SWIFT AND HARSH AGAINST THOSE WHO COMMITTED THESE MURDERS AND ALSO AGAINST THOSE WHO HATE THIS COUNTRY BECAUSE OF ITS CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES.

LORD, WE PRAY FOR THE PROTECTION OF ISRAEL FROM MUSLIM TERRORISTS.

LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR THE SKILL AND FORTITUDE YOU HAVE GIVEN OUR MILITARY WHICH ENABLES THEM TO TURN EVIL MEN OVER TO YOU FOR ETERNAL JUDGMENT.

"Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler." - Psalm 91:3

God delivers his people from the snare of the fowler in two senses. From, and out of. First, he delivers them from the snare-does not let them enter it; and secondly, if they should be caught therein, he delivers them out of it. The first promise is the most precious to some; the second is the best to others.

"He shall deliver thee from the snare." How? Trouble is often the means whereby God delivers us. God knows that our backsliding will soon end in our destruction, and he in mercy sends the rod. We say, "Lord, why is this?" not knowing that our trouble has been the means of delivering us from far greater evil. Many have been thus saved from ruin by their sorrows and their crosses; these have frightened the birds from the net. At other times, God keeps his people from the snare of the fowler by giving them great spiritual strength, so that when they are tempted to do evil they say, "How can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?" But what a blessed thing it is that if the believer shall, in an evil hour, come into the net, yet God will bring him out of it! O backslider, be cast down, but do not despair. Wanderer though thou hast been, hear what thy Redeemer saith-"Return, O backsliding children; I will have mercy upon you." But you say you cannot return, for you are a captive. Then listen to the promise-"Surely he shall deliver thee out of the snare of the fowler. " Thou shalt yet be brought out of all evil into which thou hast fallen, and though thou shalt never cease to repent of thy ways, yet he that hath loved thee will not cast thee away; he will receive thee, and give thee joy and gladness, that the bones which he has broken may rejoice. No bird of paradise shall die in the fowler's net.

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. —Psalm 127:3

On the day the US lost one of its most respected presidents, my wife and I celebrated the birth of our first grandchild. Gerald R. Ford died the day Eliana Ruth was born to our daughter Lisa and her husband, Todd. She came into the world in a hospital about a mile from where President Ford is now buried.

If Eliana lives to be the same age as President Ford when he died, she will live into the 22nd century! I wonder what mark this little girl will make on the world—and what kind of society she and her peers will experience.

Each child born into this world has potential for godliness and even greatness. The traits today’s children need to guide a future society do not come by accident, but through diligent, godly parenting.

God’s Word calls us to point children to Jesus (Mark 10:14-16). We are to instruct them in God’s ways (Deut. 6:4-9), discipline them toward godliness (Prov. 19:18), and love them unconditionally (Luke 15:11-32). Imagine what Eliana’s world can be like if the parents of her generation dedicate themselves to godly parenting.

Are you a parent? Teach your children godliness, faith, and uncommon love. Then, when they influence their world, they will reveal God to a new generation.

F.L. Rawson, engineer and scientist, who is the author of “Life Understood” (published by Wm. Clowes & Sons, Ltd. London, England) narrates an account of a British regiment under the command of Colonel Whittlesey that served in World War II for more than five years without losing a man. This unparalleled record was made possible by means of the active cooperation of the officers and men, all of whom memorized and repeated regularly the words of 91st Psalm, which has been called the “Psalm of Protection.”

The Ralston Publishing Company of Cleveland, Ohio, used to print (and maybe they still do) for distribution wallet-size cards with the above story on one side, under the caption “Protection for Soldiers and Sailors” and the 91st Psalm is on the reverse side.

By constant reiteration and repetition of the truths contained in Psalm 91, the men in Colonel Whittlesey’s regiment acquired the feeling of being watched over by an Overshadowing Presence.

By repetition, faith, and expectancy, these truths sank down into their subconscious mind, bringing about an inner conviction of Divine protection at all times. This is one of the miracles of prayer.

Are there any Latin scholars on the RC ping list? I’m wondering why it is “Soli Deo Gloria.” It is translated as “Glory to God alone,”
