family comes first.

notice how he is keeping family private in contrast to others who use it like any other resume padder.

First Duncan, now Fred....

The only one left that I can support is Mitt, and I would do so halfheartedly.

You can tell a lot about a man who chooses to be with his ailing mother. This is a man worth standing up for. Have you noticed there is no news coverage on what he is doing, just news that he may no longer be in the race. I suspect the subject is taboo since they don’t want any kind of sympathy surge for Fred.

This source believes that the race has demonstrated that whatever happens from here on out, the GOP has to stand for consistent conservative policies across the board.

Pure pablum. I have seen nothing of the kind. McCain is still pandering to global warming, Huckabee still thinks that Federal Power ought to be used to regulate the bewhoopus out of those who don't think like him, Rudy is still a cross-dresser, and Romney is still trying to make up his mind whether to raise or lower his hand.

Fred. Go ahead and make it official. The people here on FR need to get on with their lives. You have zero shot now. It was fun while it lasted. I really wanted you to win. I’ve moved on but I guess you need to club these other people in the head before they can see the forrest.

>I am also told, “he has no interest in a vice presidency or a cabinet position.”

IF this is true, it is exactly what I have thought all along.

Fred Thompson News
Fred’s mother is ill and her condition has deteriorated today. I ask that everyone and the candidates give the family space to make their own decisions about the process, and respect whatever his wishes may be.

UPDATE at 9:00 pm: To clear up some rumors floating around, just got word from the campaign:
1. Thompson has not pulled out of Florida’s debate Thursday night yet. Fox News is wrong in their reporting yet again, at this stage.
2. Yes, she has been ill for a while, but has improved since earlier today.

Ron Paul is the only viable conservative in the race. I hear him smeared as a Liberal here. He’s never voted to raise taxes and he’s never voted for a bill that violated the constitution. How does talking sense about where our stupid and ruinous foreign policy has gotten us qualify him as a Liberal?

There's no bigger FRedhead than I in the entire U.S.of A.

However, I hope FRed gets off the pot or you know what, and I say that with the utmost respect.

If this is the big announcement that was supposedly coming out today, it is certainly disappointing to supporters and potential donors who are left hanging and befuddled.

While I'm sure Fred and others are the type of men who put family first, this is major league hardball they're in. The show must go on, at least to a minimum extent. Holing up is not an alternative.

I'm sorry, but I don't buy that her being ill is the reason he may or may not drop out of the biggest political race in the world, although it undoubtedly may play a part.

There's other factors afoot here, maybe money matters and gloomy poll predictions in Florida and elsewhere. However, I hope Thompson doesn't keep his supporters in a kind of tortuous suspended animation......and keep us running to the computer or TV every two minutes to see what's happening.

Yes, I'm blessed with utmost have patience, but this ambivalence is not helpful to FRed's campaign.

This is reality, not sentimentality.

Just got an e-mail from his HQ urging everyone to call and ask him to stay in-HERE'S THE NUMBER - (571) 730-1000.

The nice young man told me he has no plans and is by his mom's bedside-as it should be.

IMHO, the Huckster will soon drop out and Fred will get most of their votes. He will probably get most of Hunters votes (add 1% to his vote), and Rudy will soon drop out. McCain Romney and Fred wouild then be the last men standing. I have to believe that Fred wouldd win that.

We vote down here next Tuesday. It was Fred all the way for me, but I’ve decided I’m going to have to cast my vote for Mitt. He’s become my strong second and I don’t want McCain or Huckabee to get Florida’s delegates. It’s Winner Take All and the stakes are high!
