Duncan Hunter Endorses Mike Huckabee
National Review Online ^ | 1-23-08 | Byron York

Posted on 01/23/2008 12:29:02 PM PST by TitansAFC

This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:

"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America‚s industrial base."

"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.

ok, I checked it and read it, and I do not see an endorsement. I see the same quote out of context from an interview about what he liked about EACH candidate. I see that one line that Huntwer said in the context of what he liked about each candidate. See my first post with the video. Its out of context and is not an endorsement. Yet every media now has run with it claiming it is an endorsement.

Just because you saw it on the news doesn't make it real. Its all the same source. and the source is out of context. The other quote is allegedly from an email. Has anyone seen Duncan Hunter in video endorse Huckabee?

Right. No one seems to get it. Where is this “Press Release”? It is certainly not on Hunters website. It was supposedly from an email. And the rest is taken from what he said about each candidate. They could just as easily have said he endorses Giulianni or McCain. C’mon people do your research. Get the original source or shut up.

You’d think there’d be something on his homepage or campaign web site, wouldn’t you?

This is why I am keeping my powder dry about Huck. I am concerned about him, but when the major criticisms repeated are about cooking squirrel on a popcorn popper, it tells me the criticisms I am concerned about do not have much merit.

While I know what has bee said, if Duncan Hunter is confortable with him, I am not as adverse to supporting Huck.

That said, my stand is that I will support any Republican other than McCain and Frudy.

Amen. I’m not in love with any of these guys, but in the absence of alternative I share your bottom line.

I’m drawing the line at McCain as well. However, I see Huckabee as more of the Bush variety crappassionate confounditivism. I can’t take that anymore. I’m gonna swap you Huckabee for Giuliani.

Huckabee is accepting the endorsement that no one can prove. How silly. The two paragraphs in the alleged endorsement don't jive. I put up the video. It was not an endorsement. Everyone is being duped. Everyone is quoting the last person that quoted the last, etc. I saw the video. I posted it. you tell me it is not being misquoted.

Where is a press release from Hunter?? Quoting Huckabee's site proves nothing. He also accepted Bolton as his adviser, which Bolton new nothing of. Nothing on Hunters site. Where is the official Press release from Hunter. If it exists, I have not found it. I have dug and dug.

It doesn't matter anymore if he did or not, but its the truth I'm after.

I was hoping Hunter would run for Gov of CA in the next election here so that he could gain greater national exposure for 2012.

IMHO Romney currently holds positions on the issues most similar to DH and is most electable by a wide margin. I certainly don’t understand DH’s endorsement of Huck, but possibly the Bain Capital snit caused DH to dis Romney?

It’s the truth my FRiend, am I sad to say. Hunter was my 2nd choice, and only choice, after Fred. I also wholeheartly support Duncan’s son, Marine Captain Duncan D. Hunter, who his running for his Dad’s 52nd Congressional Seat. The Captain will be getting my next campaign contribution shortly.

Astounding to hear this. Hunter should never have endorsed anyone. I could somewhat understand the bad addiction to the GOP, but to come out and endorse any one of these bad choices has just shattered my views on him.

The only way he could have maintained credibility would be to endorse no one.

“Well... what next? Thompson endorsing Goofball Paul?”

Oh, don’t worry about that at all. He’ll definitely endorse McCain. McCain is worse than Huckabee so will all the Fredheads lose all respect for Fred when he does endorse Juan?

Exactly, like Thompson, at least so far.

Huckabee has a vision and a plan of action;

Yes, he does.

Problem is that his vision isn't a conservative one. He's a nanny-stater through and through.
