This is a good idea . By maintaining your support for Senator Thompson right up until he endorses McCain , it will be easier for you to vote for Juan McAmnesty .

This is the boat I'm in. THe wife and I proudly supported Fred in the Iowa primary and I intend to write him in in the general since I can't bring myself to cast a vote for a known RINO which fits the category of all the other "conservatives" in the race.

Anyone still voting for Fred is wasting their vote and only helping McCain win every state with 30% of the GOP voting for him. Fred has abandonned his bid and he never seemed like he wanted the job anyway.

If that ticks you off to a point you dont want to vote. Fine...just feel good knowing you have contributed to why our general election will be between Obama and McCain.

I will write in Thompson. I will also write him in come November. If this country goes into the crappier I’d rather it happen on a dim watch tan Republican if there is any hope for the R party to rebuild.

On a side not I got a survey from the Republican party. I ripped them a new one especially the last two questions where they asked for money and would I vote for the Republican nominee no matter who it may be.

In the primary, I’m writing Fred in. After that, I’ll have to make a hard decision.

Everyone in my family is voting for Thompson in the primary...it’s the only way to let the RNC know that there are conservatives that will not bend their principles still aorund.

Screw the RNC, and what ever RINO gets the nod.

I believe Fred is still on the ballot in Texas. I plan on voting for him anyway. For the first time since I’ve been of voting age, I have an opportunity to vote for someone I am enthusiastic about. Maybe if more Republicans vote Fred or Uncommitted, we can send a message that there is a small but significant minority in the party who will not allow it to be hijacked by leftists.

If no one will be too offended, I'm going to inject a few facts into the discussion. In Tennessee, people vote directly for the delegates who are going to the convention, and many respected Republicans have put their names on the ballot to be delegates for Mr. Thompson. Many of their friends and neighbors are going to vote for them because they respect those delegate candidates as individuals. I have no doubt that a large number of Fred Thompson delegates will win. My folks are in Tennessee and originally supported Mr. Thompson. They are having to decide whether to vote for his delegates who in some cases are close friends or to vote for other delegates in order to try to stop McCain.

I don't know whether those delegates will be required to vote for Fred Thompson on the first ballot. I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Thompson's being officially withdrawn will mean that they are free to vote as they wish even on the first ballot. In that case, Tennesseans will simply be electing uncommitted delegates to go to Minnesota.

Bill

Would sure prefer him to anyone but Hunter. And he’s likely much better than hunter in terms of electability.

It is my understanding that Fred Thompson will still be on the ballot here in Alabama. If he's not, I do believe I'll be writing him in.

To quote a fellow FReeper "Fred wouldn't raise his hand, I won't hold my nose."

I think this is good. The goal of Thompson supporters should be to split the vote so that no one wins the nomination outright. It looks like Rudy is like to win a few on super Tuesday so let the fun begin.
