Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation , parent company of Smith & Wesson Corp., the legendary 156-year old company in the global business of safety, security, protection and sport, announced today that it has received an order from the Colorado State Patrol for 850 of the company's Military & Police (M&P) Series of advanced-design polymer pistols. At least the actions are open.

It looks kind of like those Steyr pistols that came out a few years ago; the ones with the triangular sigts.

One more thing to keep in mind. I’ll examine the first rounds in the mags, and report back.

I’m thinking of using the first round of defensive ammo whenever I hit the range, to avoid this problem. Though I hate to waste a Golden Sabre on a piece of paper....

Not the closest revolver !

It does look like it's not quite locked, but certainly not open far enough. Can't see enough detail at the crane/ejector to tell.

No. I put 200 rounds of the golden saber thru the Glock 23 and 22 already before deciding I could count on it.

But now, I tend to practice with cheaper ball ammo. Usually White Box purchased at Wally’s.

As I said earlier, personally I have never had even the slightest hiccup. I don’t want to get complacent though.

Good gun, but the mags cost too much.

On closer examination, it’s open just a bit.

Let see... $1 a round, x 800 rds month, is a car payment or two.

This can be managed, but you have to shoot enough carry ammo to be confident with it.

Unless somebody else is buying, practicing with FMJ or reloads is far more cost effective.

Looks like the photographer asked them to stand on the down range side of the bench for better light and background.

just curious, do the S&W magazines cost more than H&K USP40 magazines?

Love mine. I bought a 9mm at the Winter Nationals from the S&W ‘gift’ shop last year.

I’m thinking seriously about getting another in .45

Now, the important thing is, where are they going to be selling all of those old State Patrol guns?

Likely as not. I get a full on case of the heebie-jeebies walking in front of a muzzle, regardless of condition or status.

Same here. When I show a weapon to a customer I clear the action, locking the slide back or the cylinder open.

I had one gentleman repeat the same procedure after I handed him the weapon and he .....apologized for re-checking the weapon.

I told him I would have been more insulted if he had NOT checked the weapon himself.

I wound up selling him quite a few firearms that day, the XD he was looking at, a really nice Browning engraved BAR in 30-06, and an older Win '97 riot gun.

The lacquer on the Wolf cases is a little ‘sticky’ ... just a tad ... and it hangs up in the HiPower magazines. I’ll get off a few rounds, then one fails to feed ... bummer.

I suppose I could use it for malfunction drills.

That or see if the Glock handles it OK.

for pistol ammo, i load for between $0.5 and $0.20/ per round.
the more expensive stuff is the speer GDHP rounds for my .38super.

i shoot alot more than 800 rounds a month tho.
