MCCAIN PICKS UP TED OLSON (NRO-CAMPAIGN SPOT)

JOHN MCCAIN

McCain Picks Up Ted Olson

Looks like when Giuliani made his endorsement, one of his key backers moved with him: Jen Rubin hears Ted Olson, former Solicitor General (and a guy mentioned in recent Supreme Court and Attorney General vacancies) is backing McCain.

I guess he's not worried about the comment in the Fund/Novak columns.

I follow the Geneva Convention of politics. I will not bash him when he is own foreign soil. When he gets in bed with Teddy Kennedy on No Child Left Behind, Prescription Drugs, or amnesty, then you betcha I will bash him.

Somebody pretty high up must have sent out all these orders today for these endorsements. It is obvious McCain can't carry his own water and somebody is very worried. Reassure the sheeple out there. But at this point, it has become what you might call overkill.

Arnold, Rudy, Gov Perry of TX, Ted Olson, Olympia Snow, Susan Collins, ......add your own.

You’re right. McCain has been a very productive Senator. Let’s see, we have McCain-Feingold, McCaine-Kennedy, McCain-Lieberman, the Gang of 14, and don’t forget the keating 5. He’s a champion for rights... illegal alien rights.

Interesting old quote about McCain and judges:

Several Bush nominees were filibustered and blocked in 2002 and 2003, including Miguel Estrada. During the Estrada battle, the Republican activist said, “McCain was a whiner. He kept saying, ‘why are we having these repeated votes (to try to stop the filibuster)?’ He was obtuse; he didn’t get why the issue was important.”

You're 100% correct...I didn't say I would vote for him. Just believe that he does have some good qualities. I got tired of the fifty threads extolling Romney.

I'm glad to see you have made a choice:

Seven good reasons to support Mike Huckabee [be sure to read reason number seven]

I’d like to have Mr. Ted Olsen give his reasons for his decision. Just about a day doesn’t go by where I read about what I thought was a conservative Republican make a decision that runs right up the left’s butt. We need a resurrection of the Whig Party.

Are you kidding?

If McCain is Ted’s pick, then where is Ted’s conservatism or good judgment?

Maybe Ted Olsen has a different Perspective than you - why, I do not know. But Ted is one of ours and he’s a good man.

The real question to ask is... why did he CHOOSE NOT go to
Romney??? Apparently, he has a reason.

He first backed Rudy.

Then he backs McCain.

And you still think that he should have backed Romney?

I have to question both his judgment and yours. He picked the two worst people wearing the “R” label.

I give credit where it’s due. I won’t fawn over someone when they display a lack of judgment or conservatism.

“And you still think that he should have backed Romney?”

No. I’m glad he did not back Romney. And the reason why
would be telling - wish I knew Ted Olsen and could ask.
Maybe it will come out.

Ted and Rudy worked together under Reagan. I don’t know what
the connection with McCain is. However, if Mc gets elected,
I would be very glad Ted was involved.

Ted Olson has come out of the closet in the last year. First, Rudy, now John.

How can anyone ever take him seriously again?
