Keeping with the American Heart Month theme, First Lady Laura Bush recorded the weekly radio address today:
For the weekly radio address, President Bush has handed the mic over to me. And today, I'd like to talk about something that's close to my heart -- America's heart health. (Transcript)
Later, the first lady spoke at The Heart Truths Red Dress celebrity fashion show at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2008 show in New York City. (Transcript)
Afterwards, Mrs. Bush was joined by daughter Barbara Bush as they watched celebrities such as Heidi Klum, Joss Stone, Mary Lynn Rajskub and others model red dresses on the runway.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met with Poland's Minister of Foreign Affairs Radoslaw Sikorski at the State Department in Washington.
President & Mrs. Bush will be spending the weekend at Camp David.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
Quote of the Day:
President Bush: I'm sure you've heard that, well, we need more money in Washington; therefore, we're going to raise your taxes. Of course it's disguised by saying, we're only going to tax rich people -- but that's not the way it works. Rich people tend to hire lawyers and accountants, and you get stuck with the bill. We don't need more money. We need to prioritize your money. We need to be wise about how we spend your money.Raising taxes in a time of economic uncertainty would be bad for the economy and it would be bad for our people. I believe we ought to trust Americans to spend their money. I mean, the truth of the matter is you can spend it more wisely than the government can.

President Bush, stops to meet with Hallmark employee Rick Eisel, right, during his tour of Hallmark Card Inc., Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, in Kansas City, Mo.
President Bush: I got to see Hallmark cards being made, and the fella kindly made me one that said, "For your daughters." It was sweet, but it just didn't have any warning in there about how to conduct myself for the upcoming wedding. (Laughter.)
Wonderful photos of the day. Love to see the president with
children. He loves them!
Love to see Laura anytime! :D
