It never ceases to amaze me how proponents of a certain candidate can trot out the “What he would do with it as President is an open question” defense, but never allow it for those they oppose.

Fred also voted against repealing Affirmative Action.

He voted for Minimum Wage increases, property rights infringements for environmentalist positions, against discretionary budget limitations, approved billions in spending over budget, and on and on.

Oh yeah, he also voted for the Surgeon General who said this: “The only way we’re going to change approaches to sexual behavior and sexual activity is through school. In school, not only at the doctor’s office.”

Sure sounds like a Reaganite.

"Gov. Huckabee, mighty fine man and is a great Christian..." - Rush Limbaugh

""Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity." - Duncan Hunter

Huckabee’s band has performed twice at inaugural events sponsored by FreeRepublic.com, a right-wing forum known for its extreme views. After 2001’s “Count the White House Silverware Party,” Huckabee posted a message on the forum calling himself a “confirmed and proud Freeper.” - http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/general/default.aspx?oid=24890

Fred was lock step with McCain on McCain-Feingold.

And Fred, unlike McPain and FindGold, said his vote was a mistake because of the unintended consequnces of the bill.

Trying to make that comparison falls way short.

Just like saying that Huck is a conservative because he supports the 2d Amendment (which any Ark pol has to), and right to life.

In a state that takes corrput politicians for granted, Huck has had more than his fair share of ethics investigations--some of which he has been found guilty of.

Do you accept the “conversions” of other candidates as freely as you accept Fred’s?

Romney’s abortion conversion?

Hucksters immigration conversion?

There’s a disturbing tendency by some folks around here to only accept the conversions of their pet candidates.

If Huckabee had refrained from tellilng demonstrable lies, about Romny and his own record, I might be willing to vote for him.

I can handle difference of opinion, I can accept the politicians change their minds about issues from time to time, and lots of other things.

But don’t tell me what a devout Christian you are and then start lying. He told proven lies. Not “accidental mis-statements”. End of story for him in my book. It the same reason I won’t vote for McCain.

They lie and think we’re too stupid to figure it out.

read post #46.

And for the Record, my choice was Duncan Hunter. Someone who neither had to lie or flip flop.

We are now down to picking the least obectionable of those who remain.

laughable. Bible thumping does not equate to conservative.

Your post doesn’t make a lot of sense. McCain and Romney both made professions of their faith, and both have told demonstrable lies.

Who did Duncan endorse?

I have yet to see the “demostrable lies” told by Romny (except as characterized by Huckabee).

As for Hunters endorsement, I’m dumbfounded by it. It probably had to do with the Minuteman endorsement, which I heard, has since been recinded.

Clearly you haven’t looked hard.

Take his NRA support line, repeated again today.

Or his repeated claim that “I was pretty proud of being the only guy on the stage that ever had a job in the private sector.”

Or his claim that he didn’t call McCain’s position on immigration “amnesty.”

Or perhaps the most innocent, but hilarious - The Red Sox waited “87 long years” to win the World Series.

Excellent analysis of Huckabee vs. McCain vs. Romney — examining both obvious and subtle matters.

Again, Romney in the Calif. debate hedged on nominating strict constructionists, after the O’Connor question.

Or his repeated claim that “I was pretty proud of being the only guy on the stage that ever had a job in the private sector.”

McCain has been in the military or politics his whole life. No private sector exp. Huck has been a pastor or politician for most of his adult life. Again, no privates sector exp. worth mentioning (if there were youd think you could find it on his campaign website). Further, Romny was talking specifically in terms of running a business. So this statement is true.

Or his claim that he didn’t call McCain’s position on immigration “amnesty.”

True, he did. But McCains bill was amnesty, and Romny should not have let McCain bully him into saying otherwise. But he did not tell a lie that falsified the facts of what McCain in fact supported.

Innocent, but hilarious - The Red Sox waited “87 long years” to win the World Series

Even bringing this up proves the weakness of your argument.

In every politcal campaign, every candidtate, regardless of how honest is going to say something that dumb, that can be parsed, or may be a slight exageration of the proof.

I am talking about flat-out lies about about the opposition (their character, positioins, etc), in the face of facts.

I seriously considered Huckabee for a while. And while Romny is not lily white, the balance scale, IMHO, weighs in on the side of Romny. Further, both McCain and Huck have doged and refused to come onto San Diego's premier morning talk-show to be interviewed, while Romny did so, and without pre-conditions and answered every question directly, consistently, and without hesitation. Neither McCain nor Huckabee will go on Rick Roberts show in spite of repeated requests.

He’s the only one whose record is genuinely conservative.

False. He may be conservative on social issues, but on fiscal and foreign policy matters, naw-uh.

Huckabee was a founder of a television station, KLFI TV, and also a producer of TV/Radio ads. He was the station’s President for five years.

Guiliani was a practicing lawyer for several years, and founded a consulting firm (quite publicized) after his mayoral career ended. He has also become a partner in a law firm he helped start.

That’s a blazing, red hot, lie.

Glad to see you admit Romney lied about the very ads he aired.

And you duck his repeated claims he made about NRA endorsement?

How is that weak, multiple very obvious examples of outright lies by Romney. You just casually dismiss them because he’s your boy. Just be honest about who you’re voting for. Admitting their flaws doesn’t make them unworthy of a vote - I’m likely voting Romney.

I’m not ducking anything. And at the risk of repeating myself AGAIN, I am voting for the least ojectionable of the three. Which is based on multiple sources, is Romny.

Answer one question for me, if you will. Why is Huck spending all his time attacking Romny, and not McCain? If Huck is the staunch conservative he claims to be, why is not attacking senator Juan from Arizona, who is far more liberal than Romny accross the board?

If you can give me a logical answer to that question in the next hour I might be persuaded to change my mind before going to the polls on the way home. Knock yourself out.

Huck’s strength is Romney’s weakness - Social Conservative issues.

Romney has been on the wrong side of abortion, gun control and the homosexual agenda for all of his political career. It’s the easiest target for Huck, and one that motivates Huck’s base - evangelical voters.

Most everything Huck could attack McCain on could be turned back against him.
