Romney out. Congratulations Freepers on ensuring there was no conservative in the race. (Vanity)

Posted on 02/07/2008 9:51:12 AM PST by mbraynard

You rallied behind someone who never had their heart in the race and was never a leader in their life (Thompson) or never had a chance in hell (Hunter). What is needed more than anything to win the WH is a drive to do the spade work necessary to get there. So by denying Romney victory in IA and NH and SC, and splitting the field, you now have probably the worst enemy of all - someone the Wonderful Mr. Jim Robinson never saw fit to put a 'truth file' on.

So, nice work.

People still have a chance to vote for the pro-life, IRS hating, conservative, Mike Huckabee.

Dear Romney fans it might be wise to have Mitt run against John Kerry which would then give us time to see that his conservitive values are what he says they are and time for us to forget what his values were.

Many FReepers, myself included, reached a point where there were no remaining candidates even remotely acceptable.

That position I respect. What I don't respect is the conservative media trying to convince me Romney is a conservative.

I was mistaken. It was not an opus. The poster deserted this thread and has posted elsewhere twice. That makes the poster a HARDHEAD-----Hit And Run Dummy Has Entered, Antagonized, Departed.

You guys are a couple of tools.

I posted this, posted on two other threads, and then went TO WORK for a few hours. And then 300+ people post back on the thread, and you guys are turning into whiners because I didn't give every one of you wankers the personal 'F U' response you have coming?

I'm really surprised this thing didn't get deleted within 5 minutes. Someone freepmailed me and told me his post on it was deleted. Oh well.

If I'm a dupe for buying Mitt because he isn't a real conservative, at least I didn't get duped by someone who wasn't a real candidate.

So piss off.

You're right--I cannot believe the absolute viciousness that is on this website. I've been addicted to Free Republic since the early days of Clinton I and the way Freepers now write to other Freepers is unreal. It's hard to believe with some of the caustic things written to each other that conservatives are civilized, decent people. They tear people they don't know to shreds and treat those in the public eye, people willing to sacrifice their money, time, families, etc. to fight liberals like Clinton and Obama, like its target practice.

How can we be "pro-life" when we treat our own who are already here so poorly?

Dont worry Mitt fans...He has a habit of changing his mind. He will be back in the race in no time.

Yeah, I distinctly recall him saying Tuesday night that the one thing he learned from the results was to continue on.

On the other hand Huckabee said it was a two man race.

It will be interesting how the voting breaks down now. I think it very possible that Huckabee can get the conservative vote en masse against McCain, and win a lot of delegates.

We need to fix the primary process so it isn't driven by polls, image, amount of money spent or how early you enter the campaign. The primarys are spread out and make it easy for fraud, manipulation and polling to drive results of subsequent primaries.

I cherry picked the portion of your comment that I posted but your entire post is well worth reading and your solution should be adopted. Thanks!!

You guys are a couple of tools.

If I'm a tool for sticking to my core values and beliefs rather than treating elections like beauty contests, then so be it. When I look in the mirror each morning I never have to turn away in shame. My core values don't change from day to day or shift to please a certain demographic group.

I never said you were a dupe for voting for Mitt -at least you got to vote. As is the case almost every election cycle, my state's primary is scheduled so late that the nomination is locked up before I get to vote. By the time the primary hits this time, I get to choose between McCain, Huck or Write-in - woohoo!

By the way, when you posted your blanket slam of FReepers as a group did you expect all your fellow FReepers to say thank you, sir, may I have some more?

I've been through worse times - the Carter years - and I'm optimistic that from the ashes of a McCain/Obama/Clinton presidency another Reagan will emerge.

I suggest you down a few of your favorite adult beverages tonight, reflect on your original post tomorrow and see if maybe there could have been a better way to make it clear how disssapointed you are that Mitt's out.

We did choose the only true Conservative and look what the MSM did to him.

Thompson may have been the only true conservative, but he wasn't in it to win. He was McCain's stalking horse, nothing more. You all got played.

His record as Governor is conservative, especially on illegal immigration. That’s why real conservatives such as Bork, Tancredo, National Review, Heritage Foundation, Weyrich, and the Sheriff of Maricopa endorsed him.

Rather than checking his actual record, I’m sorry to say you bought the spin from the McCain/Huckabee, et al. wing. It obviously worked on a lot of people, not just you.
