It is about time! Maybe we can get a conservative as a running mate out of this.

Keyes is brilliant. Seems he just rubs some people the wrong way. Go figure.

Nobody who’s ready for prime-time yet. Maybe if Hillary wins we can groom someone for 2012. Mark Sanford, perhaps? Jim DeMint maybe?

I suspect his entry and exit were a choreographed means of consolidating support for McCain by fragmenting Conservative support.

Can you expound on that please? I'm not being sarcastic at all, it's just not computing.

Not really, but this will be the only way for us to get a Conservative in as President. I expect McCain, if elected, to die in office, so the choice of VP is of paramount concern.

I'm not sure McCain will pick Fred, especially since the knock on Fred has been that he looks as old as John McCain actually is.

Anyway as a Fred Head, I hope McCain picks Fred and I hope Fred tells McCain that amnesty only encourages more illegal immigration.

and they laughed at us for supporting Hunter who has been a conservatived right along, no flip flops. Plus has the background and experience for president.

Besides Tanc, Brownbeck,Huck and Fred entering late and taking the support from Hunter.

With Fred’s long time friendship with McCain it seems Fred not Huck was more help to McCain

Fred stated early on that he would support the party’s nominee. Now we know who’s going to be the nominee.

At this point, Fred’s endorsement is pretty meaningless. He’s just getting behind the presumptive nominee.

Hate to say this, but Fred’s participation (and lack thereof) in the primary, in the end, just served to raise hopes of conservatives and to divert them from settling on a more determined candidate. His presence probably hurt Romney in SC, and to a lesser extent Huckabee, and helped the RINO McCain. I don’t think that was intended, but that is how it evolved and devolved.

It does. VERY disappointed in him. Fred may sell out his principles for McCain.

I won't.

If you say so. Might be a vote on the clinton impeachment thing he could have done differently...

Fred did of course vote to remove BJ Clinton on the more serious charge.

Does that mean Fred is another of the growing list of faux-conservative liberals who support McCain?

All this time pulling the wool over our faces! What a rat.

The article itself QUOTES Fred Thompspon:

"This is no longer about past preferences or differences. It is about what is best for our country and for me that means that Republican should close ranks behind John McCain," Thompson said in a statement reported by the Associated Press.
