There have been a number of indications that January 2008 has been an exceptional month for winter weather in not only North America, but the entire Northern Hemisphere......
Now to add to this, we have images and reports from NOAA and Rutgers University of large anomalies of snow cover extent for the northern hemisphere in January 2008.

Who would have thought that global warming would cause one of the worst and coldest winters in decades. Where’s that bloviated fraud Al Gore?
Yep, but for some ‘odd reason’ they don’t have an update since mid-October
Algore farted and scratched his ass, thus defeating globle warming.
Please, and I repeat PLEASE don’t post “anti-global” warming articles. My carbon credit business is going to pot!
They probably do, but they don't want to show it.
Should the day come when the people have real time satellite imagery this B/S these wacko's put out for public consumption will be passe.
Doubtful I will ever see that day.
You all need to catch up with the new narrative. Its not called “global warming” anymore. Its called “climate change”. That way no matter what the “anomaly” is, the climate alarmists are always right!!
OMG!! First it got hot! Then it got cold! Then it got HOT!! Now it’s getting COLD AGAIN!!!
Whatever will we do?!!! HELP!!
Somebody, please slap me!!
Thank you.
I feel better.
LOL!
socialism is causing an ice age
“Who would have thought that global warming would cause one of the worst and coldest winters in decades. Wheres that bloviated fraud Al Gore?”
You haven’t been reading the memos, have you? It’s not ‘global warming’. It’s ‘global climate change’ now. Any change, warmer or colder, wetter or drier, etc., is ‘global climate change’ and it’s our fault.
heh, ain’ that the truth..
too many hurricanes?? climate change
too few hurricanes?? climate change
too much snow?? climate change
too little snow?? climate change
too hot?? climate change
too cold?? climate change
etc. etc..
Where I live, they’re saying it’s the coldest winter in 30 years.
Global warming causes record snowfall? Do I have that right?
;-)
Don’t count on it, both McCain and Hillary/Obama will be trying to top each other on who can do more to beat back so-called global warming.
In fact McCain’s new campaign song is, “Captain Planet, he’s our hero, gonna beat CO2 emissions back to zero.”
remember when people used to say: "If you don't like the weather... wait five minutes, it will change." ???
Out capping and taxing yo' BTU's, man.
The way I read this is that January was the largest snow cover ever recorded, since records began in 1966.
LAKE WENATCHEE Experts say this winter is shaping up to be the worst avalanche season in more than 20 years.
"This avalanche up here at Lake Wenatchee is telling us what our avalanche forecasters have been saying: We're in extreme avalanche danger right now," said Greg Thayer of the Wenatchee River Ranger District.
The Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center in Seattle reported today that slides are occurring throughout the Northwest this week, including the Stevens Pass area.
"We're going to hear about a lot more avalanches here in the next week," he said. "It's going to be one of those situations where people need to stay away from the steep and the deep. Even in the town of Leavenworth, if there are any roofs on houses that haven't slid yet, children need to stay away because they are going to be sliding.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Idaho Department of Correction officials say heavy snow collapsed the roof of a gymnasium at North Idaho Correctional Institution in Cottonwood.
DURANGO, Colo. (CBS4) ― All the heavy snowfall has caused major problems in Durango after some roofs collapsed and an avalanche hit within city limits on Tuesday.
I know they always said that when I lived up in Syracuse lol
All this weird weather is because of La Nina, which is a particularly strong one this time.
Well kind of...it’s worse than we thought actually. It isn’t “global warming” anymore, it’s “climate change.” And this is far worse than just global warming. Man has so messed up the environment that it’s causing what I call, “enviro-confusion” on the part of the earth. You see, the earth doesn’t know what to do now. It’s out of control! It’s going to take more effort, more money and greater control of business in order to rein this in. And this has to happen faster than we ever thought before. That 10 year window Algore spoke about, is now down to 5 years. We don’t have much time...
Pay no attention to that spotless sun behind the curtain of snow clouds.
This is all Bush’s Fault.
gotta love that lake effect if yer gonna like there... 8^)
OK, that does it. I'm going to quit my job, cash in my savings, max out my credit cards and go live it up in the garden spots of the world. First stop...Monaco. Then Tuscany. I'll figure out where else to go from there. Woooohooooo!!
Well, there goes their afropognic theory.
Pretty much like it is here this time of year. For the moment, it's springlike...gorgeous, sunny and mild. In a few minutes, it could be chilly and drizzly. Heck, it could even snow...

Ping me if you find one I've missed.
I am going to be really dumb now and ask... If the records started in 1966, don’t we need a little more information over time to determine global climate et al? ...oh, nevermind.
You live around 4 corners?
That’s why I live in SC now lol
I would suppose the white areas are snow cover whereas the gray areas are patchy snow or ice, correct?
Most of us who have observed the Chicken Little global warming hysteria can't help but notice the favored term which has come into vogue recently is "climate change."
I was a schoolboy in North Dakota during the March 4-8, 1966 blizzard which covered most of the Dakotas, Minnesota and the southern parts of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. I remember feeling cheated because the four day blizzard started on a Friday and we only got two day off school out of it. By Monday afternoon, the stores begin to open. The first items to get stripped off the shelves were coffee and tobacco.
It was only a year or two after that when schools begin to teach that industrialization were causing a new ice age. The theory was that carbon particles in the upper atmosphere would reflect sunlight away from the earth, providing a thin layer of insulation from the warming rays of the sun. The solution then was exactly the same as the solution proposed now-- more government control, particularly in the free world.

Then I had to milk the cows and render the pigs.
Shovel The Coal.
Stoke the Fire.
Help with the Foaling.
Then, and only then...
A Hearty Breakfast!
One spoonful of thin gruel.

Cheers!
It is our responsibility to control the global climate. Too bad Cheney won’t let us use his weather machine for that, I guess we just need carbon trading to do it.
Stop the world, I want to get off. We’re drowning in idiots here.
You have to adjust your business model. Sell “climate change” credits and cover all the bases.
Ignore all that stuff about rock and roll and mythology.
A Fimbul Winter happens every now and then. It's one where Winter comes, lasts through the next Spring, Summer and Fall, and turns into Winter again.
These suckers usually presage famine.
If the extended area of snow cover lasts into the Spring planting season, it's going to be a bad year.
If 16% is open water, then there is no sea-ice.
Mighty small difference there, so I hope no one was planning on the Arctic Ocean's ice to completely disappear.
Yes, I have noticed that too. The climate is always changing, therefore its the fault of people. When you point to the fact that the Globe is not warming anymore, they will just say “Of course, its climate change—we told you so!”
