JOHN MCCAIN AND Barack Obama swept the Chesapeake Primaries, as expected. With his victories last night, McCain further solidified his status as the almost-certain nominee of his party. Obama, meanwhile, has taken a lead among delegates to the Democratic convention and is now arguably the frontrunner.
With the outcomes last night widely expected, aides to both Obama and McCain had plenty of time to craft victory speeches that would reflect their candidate's thinking on the state of the race. And with varying degrees of intensity, both men used that freedom to begin to frame a McCain-versus-Obama general election contest, something that is starting to look more likely than not. If that happens, viewers watching the speeches tonight saw a preview of the coming debate.
McCain, for his part, borrowed extensively from Hillary Clinton's dualist critique of Barack Obama: Hope is no substitute for action, and experience matters.

Although I voted in 2006, I was totally demoralized over the GWB/Republican efforts to give AMNESTY to 20 million illegals, and to simultaneously INCREASE the number of poor, downtrodden, defacto socialist third-world illegals into America.
As a volunteer poll worker who spoke to thousands of Republicans in 2006, I am confident when I say that 40% of the Republicans who switched to Democratics (or didn't bother to vote) were upset at the GOP/White House stance on illegal immigration.
Another 40% were demoralized (falsely) by the slow Iraq war progress, and the other 20% by the Foley/Abramoff scandals which naturally were hyped by the liberal press ad naseum.
As for illegal immigration, I an many others view illegal immigration as the BIGGEST threat to America's future ..... not terror.
AlQaeda could NEVER launch an invasion of America. We are too strong and resolute militarily against armed enemies.
But we sit idly by as English is deemed almost second class, and as Latin socialists gain electoral power day by day.
Eventually, states such as Texas, Florida, Arizone, and California REALLY will have the desire to succeed from the union, and short of civil war, there won't be much the US government can do to stop it.
Hope I'm not being hysterical. Just realistic.

Lets see. The stuff I really care about:
The Democrats will continue to promote abortion. Based on his voting record, McCain will continue to promote abortion.
The Democrats will tax the snot out of me. Based on his voting record, McCain will, too.
The democrats will confiscate my firearms. Based upon his voting record, McCain will, too.
The democrats will grant amnesty to illegals swarming into this country. Based on his voting record, McCain will, too.
The democrats will restrict my first amendment rights. Based on his voting record, McCain will, too.
Seems to me, if I vote for McCain, I AM voting for a democrat.....at least as far as the things I find important are concerned.

I will vote for someone other than the huckster or mccainniac. I have not seen the ballot yet.
Obama will crash the day he will open his outh at the national debates.
I did not say I would not vote. Besides, I am talking about the TX primary, not next Nov. I really don’t know what I will do then.
A true conservative Vice President nominee would also be a very prudent investment for victory.

I don’t like McCain, but I’ll tell you Obama aint getting very many blue collar men. I know plenty and even if they’re dems they aint voting for a B. Hussein Obamamama. No chance in hell.

I think Obama will fade over time, too. Not convinced he can’t win despite it. Obama is going to have a difficult time dealing with GOP onslought on the issues. He is out of whack with the American people on the issues, big time. Prolife and pro gun movements will be out in force against him. Those that expect the President to be an effective Commander in Chief will go for McCain. It’s the mushy middle that could stay on board the Obamatrain to nowhere. We shall see. I’ve thought it was similar to 1996. The only difference is McCain has gravitas with a lot of middle of the road voters, and the Dem is not an incumbent. It may be more like 1960. A close election between a seasoned politician vs. a charismatic newbie.
he wants conservatives like John Roberts. He doesn’t want to make a scene. Reagan made a scene with Bork and he ended up with a much more liberal Kennedy. That’s not a smart way to get conservatives on the SC

It's funny - most of the time the CANDIDATE is supposed to be the uniting element, not the VOTERS.
It is embarrassing in the extreme for such hatred to be couched in the Republican Party.
Or anywhere near FreeRepublic for that matter. Very sad indeed. Pure media influence, and it gathered in the gullible in large numbers.
To quote FDR, “the only thing we have to fear, is ignorance.” Ok, I took license.
If you support the liberal republican, you are handing the party to the liberals. If you want to have a conservative choice ever again, you should be careful about enabling the liberal wing of the party.
Or are we supposed to deliberately lose the strategic war while we focus on the tactical situation?
