As Hong Kong shivers through its second-longest cold spell since 1885, scientists point to global warming to explain the abnormal cold weather phenomenon worldwide.

"We are seeing extremely unusual weather across the world," said polar researcher Rebecca Lee Lok-sze.

Do they have any idea just how completely, utterly idiotic they sound spouting "global warming is causing the current unseasonable cold?"

Is this Orwellian double-speak or what? I guess it doesn't matter what the weather does, hot, cold, wet, dry, mild to wild... They're going to blame global warming, or its new poster-boy "rapid climate change"...

Here's a pragmatic hint for these so-called "scientists" - climate is long term, weather is short term. Rapid climate change is, well, just weather. Weather changes. Hence "rapid climate change" is by definition the norm...

La Nina is the cause of the current cold spell.

Amazing how all former climate theory has been discarded for political purposes.

Is it La Nina or the current low activity on the sun? We are in a shift to the next solar cycle and sunspot activity is unusually low.

"This is due to human activities and our style of living. Carbon dioxide emissions are heavy, which is changing the weather rapidly. We could see colder winters and hotter summers in the future in Hong Kong."
What an incredible exercise of global mass stupidity. Un. Be. Lie. Va. Ble.

Penguin stew is palatable provided the external fat is removed before cooking, and penguin liver is excellent. Penguin eggs are probably best scrambled.

Do not kill [seals] in the water: even if they don’t sink you will probably not be able to lift them out. Crabeater seals are the tastiest, but all are edible. The loin, tongue and heart are the tenderest muscles, and seal brain is said to be very good. Do not eat the liver. Seal fat is not good eating but makes a good fuel although producing a lot of soot.

So,,,, do you need to buy carbon credits to burn seal fat? After all, soot is carbon.

I can attest to fact that they do not. Twice in the past few weeks I have heard from people at work that this cold spell was proof GW was really. Also the recent increase if powerful hurricanes. I can't even hold in the mocking laughter any more.

The surface temperature of the Earth GOES UP AND DOWN.

Always has, always will.

It has nothing to do with mankind, and there's nothing we can do about it.

Whoa! Holding my hand above my head...Too late for the boots but I can save the watch!

These jokers aught to read a little recent history, going back to the 19th century well before internal combustion engines but not so long ago that explorers and others who kept detailed journals were noting rapid glacier decline.

Noticed after So Cal lost avocadoes and citrus last winter due to record breaking cold snap that instead of Global Warming it started to be called “Global Climate Change” Go figure, and here I sit waiting for the snow to melt so I can go back to work in temperate coastal Alaska.
